Eloy Carrera Jr. Guilty of Murdering Salem Man

Carrera Jr. plead guilty while a second defendant, Denzel Hawthorne is yet to be tried.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Eloy Carrera Jr. At a hearing this morning before the honorable Judge Hart, 22-year old Eloy Carrera Jr. entered pleas of guilty to Murder with a Firearm, two counts of Robbery in the First Degree, and two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

These charges stemmed from a shooting on August 1, 2016 in Salem that caused the death of 44-year old Brett White.

Soldier Killed in Accidental Shooting at Camp Rilea

Next of kin have yet to be notified.

(CLATSOP COUNTY, Ore.) - camp rilea Members of a regular US Army unit conducting training at Camp Rilea reported a gunshot discharge in the housing area yesterday at approximately 6:30 pm at Camp Rilea.

A soldier, whose identity is not being released at this time, was declared deceased by doctors at the Emergency Room at Columbia Memorial Hospital, where the soldier had been transported.

Erratic Motorhome Leads to Officer Involved Shooting

Shots were fired but no one sustained gunshot injuries.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Four Salem Police Officers were involved in a line-of-duty shooting following a dangerous incident in which a motorhome struck two police patrol vehicles.

The driver, 61-year old Roy Victor Devoursney of Salem, exited the vehicle and refused to comply with officers' commands, resulting in the deployment of a taser and then officers took him into custody.

Snow will be heavy for most of the Cascades, northern portions of the Sierras Nevadas, the Blue Mountains, the Bitterroots and the Northern Rockies.

Toxicology Results from Walker Drowning

These results rule out alcohol as a contributing factor in Walker's death.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Last summer, at about 5:30 pm on August 2nd, OSP responded to the report of a missing swimmer at Walton Beach.

The missing swimmer was identified as 18-year old Jonathan James Walker from Portland. Upon OSP's arrival at approximately 5:40 p.m., Walker had not been seen for approximately 15 minutes.
