Huge Surf on Oregon Central Coast Proves Fatal

The High Surf Advisory is in effect until 3:00 p.m. Friday.

(LINCOLN COUNTY, Ore.) - high surf Oregon Today at about 11:20 a.m. the Oregon State Police responded to Depoe Bay for a report of a male that had been swept off the rocks near the sea wall in Depoe Bay.

Witnesses reported the male went over the sea wall to look at the ocean and was then swept off the rocks.

Multiple Gunshots Leave Man Dead in Newberg Friday Night

At this time there have not been any arrests in the case.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - Jack Alan Burnell On Friday, January 12, 2018 at approximately 11:41 p.m., officers from the Newberg-Dundee Police Department responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Main and E Second Street.

When the officers arrived they located a male that was deceased. It appears the male died from multiple gunshot wounds. The next of kin notifications have been made.

Jacksonville Man Wins $1,000,004 with Powerball ticket

Pearne's prize was the second large Powerball prize won in southern Oregon this month.

(SALEM, Ore.) - winner When Reggie Pearne won $4 by matching the Powerball number he thought he was pretty lucky. A few days later, he matched five numbers and won $1,000,000.

Pearne's winning numbers were 2-18-37-39-42 but he missed the Powerball number of 24 for the Wednesday, Jan. 3 drawing. The jackpot on Jan. 3 was $460 million. Pearne purchased his ticket from the J'Ville Tavern in Jacksonville.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - pot pipes During the winter holiday season the Oregon Liquor Control Commission conducted additional minor decoy operations across Oregon, and found that some licensed marijuana retailers sold marijuana products to minors.

On December 21, 2017, in the Keizer-Salem area, marijuana inspectors visited 23 licensed marijuana retailers, and five (5) failed a check for prohibiting sales to a minor volunteer. Compliance rate: 78%

12 Elk Killed in Crash on Oregon Hwy 26

Unbeknownst to drivers, highways often serve as animal trails in the dark of night.

(BANKS, Ore.) - dead elk At 4:30 this morning, the Oregon State Police and Washington County Sheriff's office responded to a crash on Highway 26 near milepost 54 in Washington County.

There were 13 known elk hit by at least one, possibly more, vehicles. Approximately half of the elk were killed on scene and the others were put down for humanitarian reasons.

Coast Guard and Depoe Bay Firefighters Rescue Man from Cove

Mother Nature helped out with a low tide, so USCG was able to land on a reef.

(DEPOE BAY, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Tuesday afternoon just before 4 o'clock, Depoe Bay Firefighters were called to a location south of Depoe Bay in an area known as Big Whale cove.

The call was for a 19-year old male suffering from an unknown medical issue.
