Airplane Museum Enthralls Thousands Saturday

Sean King reports on special activities for families Saturday at the Evergreen Air Museum in McMinnville, home of the world's largest airplane.

(MCMINNVILLE) - Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon Special activities at Evergreen Aviation Museum celebrate Annual Family Day with a long list of events that took place Saturday, March 18th, and will continue during Spring Break.

Best known as the home of the world`s largest wooden airplane, the Spruce Goose, there are more than 75 historic aircraft and exhibits on display at the Evergreen Aviation Museum, including the SR-71 Blackbird and Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat. The experience of seeing these spectacular pieces of history is a worthy use of time, whether or not one is an aviation buff. It`s something everyone in the family, young and old alike, will appreciate and remember.

Spring Vacation Programs at the Albany Library

(ALBANY) - Border Collie International Performing dogs, actors, and rubber stamp art will highlight programs for children at Albany Public Library during public school spring vacation at the end of March.

Border Collie International will entertain and educate with their four unique and gifted canines showing football, basketball, baseball, and soccer skills Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to this program. Seating will be limited.

Airport Hosting Fly-in This Weekend

The Siletz Bay State Airport is a half-mile south of Salishan

(LINCOLN CITY) - airplane A great fly-in event geared toward families is taking place this weekend at the Oregon Coast.

The Siletz Bay State Airport is hosting it`s annual fly-in Saturday and Sunday.

Organizers say people looking for something interesting to do this weekend should bring a chair or a blanket and watch a variety of planes take-off and land at the airport.

April Events at Mission Mill Museum

(SALEM) - The Mission Mill Museum in Salem is one of those rare artifacts found in a place like Oregon's capitol city. The facility interprets the history of the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill which produced wool products from 1889 to 1962 and represents one of Oregon`s earliest and strongest industries.

March 24th is World TB Day

(SALEM) - Last year in Marion County, there were 18 cases of active tuberculosis (TB). Not all of them were contagious. Tuberculosis can occur in literally any part of the body. TB occurs most frequently in the lungs, and if it occurs in the lungs or throat, it can be contagious.

Contagious TB is a public health concern and a community concern as well. Recognize the signs and symptoms of TB, which include fever, chills, night sweats, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and breathing problems.

Mr. & Miss Gervais Pageant Raises $13,825 For Worthy Cause

(GERVAIS) - Doernbecher Children's Hospital Eight Gervais High School students put their best foot forward during the 2006 Mr. and Miss Gervais Pageant Saturday, March 11th. The pageant was
held at Gervais High School as a benefit for Kids Making Miracles for Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

The pageant contestants raised $13,825 over a three-month period.

Keizer Firefighters Climb Stairs for Charity

(Keizer) - Keizer Fire Truck A team of seven Firefighters from the Keizer Fire District traveled to Seattle, Washington on Sunday, March 5th, to participate in the 15th Annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb, a fund raising event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The stair climb takes place each year at the Columbia Center Building (formerly the Bank of America Tower) in Seattle, Washington. At 788 feet in height, it is the tallest building in Seattle and the second tallest building west of the Mississippi river.

Salem Firefighters Raise Money to Fight Cancer

(Salem) - Six Salem fire fighters will be participating in the 15th annual Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge, in Seattle, WA on Sunday, March 5th. The fundraiser for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, expects to beat last year's record participation of 907 fire fighters from 180 fire departments.
