(Salem) - Six Salem fire fighters will be participating in the 15th annual Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge, in Seattle, WA on Sunday, March 5th. The fundraiser for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, expects to beat last year's record participation of 907 fire fighters from 180 fire departments.

Fire fighters Trevor Fosmark, Michael Heffner, Matt Brozovich, Ryan Ross, Jaret Lundborg and Chuck Ettel will climb to the top of the Columbia Center, the tallest building in Seattle, with full turnouts and Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, which adds about 50 lbs. to each climber.

Last year's dedicated fire fighters not only broke racing records, but also came together to raise more than $215,000. At 788 feet of vertical elevation (1,311 steps) last year's record holder finished in 11 minutes, eight seconds. For more information, or to make a donation: www.lls.org
