8 More COVID Deaths Reported in Oregon

Almost 2 million Oregonians have received at least one vaccine.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - COVID-19 There are eight new COVID-19 related deaths in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 2,522.

Oregon Health Authority also reported 844 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. today, bringing the state total to 189,986.

Oregon Reports 5 Deaths and 763 New COVID-19 Cases

As of today, 1,353,250 Oregonians have completed a COVID-19 vaccine series.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - COVID-19 Oregon Health Authority has identified 611 COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough cases through May 3, including eight deaths.

The number of vaccine breakthrough cases identified in Oregon remains very small when compared to the more than 1.3 million people who have completed their vaccine series against COVID-19.

Scio Man Killed in Head-On Motorcycle Crash

Motorcycle crashes involving another motor vehicle continue to account for nearly half of all motorcyclist fatalities in the United States.

(TURNER, Ore.) - fatal motorcycle Police say a green Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Turner Road when it went into the oncoming lane, striking the motorcyclist, 66-year old Wayne Laird, of Scio. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Honda Accord was uninjured.

Another Jump in Gas Prices Expected for Oregon

West Coast states seeing pump prices rise faster than other parts of the country.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - gas prices This week, several West Coast states are already seeing pump prices rise faster than other parts of the country. The national average is four cents more and the Oregon average is 12 cents more than a month ago.

This is the fourth-largest month-over-month increase in the nation.

An average of 31,644 vaccines are being given per day in Oregon.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - COVID-19 There is one new COVID-19 related death in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 2,509, and 808 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. today, bringing the state total to 188,417.

To date, 2,062,125 doses of Pfizer, 1,680,800 doses of Moderna and 241,900 doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered to sites across Oregon.

Salem Man Arrested Following Armed Barricade Situation in Brooks

The Willamette Valley Christian School, located across the street, was placed into lockdown.

(BROOKS, Ore.) - Oregon SWAT As deputies attempted to arrest a man wanted on domestic violence charges, the subject fled to another part of the residence where multiple firearms were located. Deputies backed out of the residence and helped other family members exit the home.

After multiple hours of negotiations, the suspect safely surrendered just after 11:00 a.m.

Joint CDC and FDA Statement on Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine

The following statement is attributed to Dr. Peter Marks, director of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research and Dr. Anne Schuchat, Principal Deputy Director of the CDC:

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - COVID Oregon Health Authority (OHA) has asked all of the state’s vaccine providers to immediately stop administering the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, per the announcement from the U.S. CDC and FDA this morning.

As of April 12, the U.S. CDC and FDA are reviewing data involving six reported U.S. cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the J&J vaccine.
