Salem-News.com Sports (October 30, 2009 23:44)Oregon State Women's Soccer Falls to No. 19 Washington State 1-0 Salem-News.com SPORTSOregon State will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 1, as the Beavers host Washington in the “Senior Day” match at 11:30 a.m. (CORVALLIS, Ore.) - No. 19 Washington State connected on the only goal of the match in the 40th minute as the Oregon State women’s soccer team fell to the Cougars, 1-0, in Pac-10 Conference action on Friday night. With the loss, Oregon State falls to 10-6-1 on the season, 2-4-0 in league play, as Washington State improves to 12-4-1, 4-1-1 in Pac-10 action.
“We played well for a majority of the match, but we let our guard down for about 20 minutes in the first half,” head coach Linus Rhode said. “You cannot do that against good teams like Washington State and they made us pay. It’s a disappointing loss, but we have to bounce back and be ready to play on Sunday.”

(BOSTON, Mass.) - The Willamette University women's rowing team competed on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Head of the Charles Regatta. Willamette had one boat compete today and their other boat will race tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 18.
Willamette's Women's Collegiate 4+ finished in 14th place with a time of 20:57.067. The team, which received an automatic bid, was made up of coxswain Erica Soma (Jr., Scotts Valley, CA), stroke seat Marguex Hunter (Fr., Ridgefield, WA), 3 seat Sarah Ferrier(So., Seattle, WA), 2 seat Heidi Hunt (So., Bellingham, WA), bow seat Libby Tobey (So., Salt Lake City, UT).

Currently, the Bearcats have two boats rowing at the Head of the Charles in Boston, Mass. (TACOMA, Wash.) - The Willamette rowing team competed at the Head of Silcox on Saturday, Oct. 17 at American Lake. Willamette had six boats compete in the event, which was hosted by the University of Puget Sound.
Willamette's women's novice 8+ and the women's second novice 8+ finished in first place for the Bearcats.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - In a battle for sole possession of second place in the Northwest Conference women’s volleyball race, Lyndsay Hovee had 15 kills and 16 digs to lead the George Fox University Bruins to a 3-1 victory (14-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-23) over the Lewis & Clark College Pioneers Wednesday night here at the Pamplin Sports Center.
It was the ninth consecutive win for the Bruins, their longest streak since winning 20 in a row from Sept. 6-Oct. 24, 1998, and raised their record to 14-3 overall and 7-2 in the conference.

Lauren Kanda got the Boxers going with an unassisted goal at 23:25. After taking a throw-in near the right sideline, she dribbled through two George Fox defenders into the penalty box and sent a shot in from 15 yards away that was blocked by Bruin keeper Autumn Van Meter but not controlled, and the ball slipped through her hands and into the net.

“There is no doubt this is going to be an entertaining and hard-fought match,” head coach Linus Rhode said. “Playing an in-state rival is always a great opportunity and the Civil War is always a match where both teams give it their best effort. We had great crowds last weekend and I know the team is excited to play in front of the home crowd again.”
