CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women’s soccer team continues Pac-10 Conference play this weekend as the Beavers host rival Oregon in the annual Civil War on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at Paul Lorenz Field.

“There is no doubt this is going to be an entertaining and hard-fought match,” head coach Linus Rhode said. “Playing an in-state rival is always a great opportunity and the Civil War is always a match where both teams give it their best effort. We had great crowds last weekend and I know the team is excited to play in front of the home crowd again.”

Oregon State enters the weekend with an overall season record of 8-4-1 and a conference record of 0-2-0. The Beavers lost two matches against nationally-ranked opponents last week, losing 3-0 to No. 1 Stanford on Friday, before falling, 2-0, on Sunday against No. 19 California.

Chelsea Buckland and Ashley Seal lead Oregon State with four goals and nine points each as 12 players have recorded a point for the season. Courtney Wetzel leads the team with three assists.

Oregon enters the weekend with an overall record of 8-4-1, 0-2-0 in conference play. Jen Stoltenberg leads the team with six goals and 16 points as Julie Armstrong leads the Ducks with six assists.

Oregon State trails the all-time series, 4-6-3, against Oregon. Last year the teams played to a scoreless draw at Pape’ Field in Eugene, and in 2007 they played to a 2-2 draw in Corvallis.

Admission is free for fans. Those attending the match are encouraged to “Help Fight Hunger” by bringing a canned food item to donate to community outreach.

Following the match against the Ducks, Oregon State will resume play on Friday, Oct. 23, when it heads to Los Angeles to take on No. 9 USC at 3:00 p.m.
