May-02-2011 22:00TweetFollow @OregonNews Cannabis Intoxication and Marijuana Poisoning on OPB Consider the Effort a C+ for InformationDr. Phil Leveque Salem-News.comThe value of marijuana in the U.S. probably approaches $50 BILLION per year, but most of the money goes to the Mexican Mafia and other similar criminals.
(MOLALLA, Ore.) - OPB (Oregon Public Broadcasting) had a program about Cannabis/Marijuana on April 25th and 30th. The title shook me to the core. I know of no other medicine in which the effective medical dose is called INTOXICATION. The term applied to Alcohol is certainly appropriate. The alternate term is “drunk as a skunk”. Tipsy just doesn’t do it! I will say that the OPB program tried to be helpful to those not knowing much about C/MJ or those who believed in the Government sponsored movie REEFER MADNESS which was pure offal and grotesquely hilarious. They did allow for 30 minutes of a bare kiss of the benefits of C/MJ which was barely informative like kissing one’s sister. At the first thing they pointed out that C/MJ affected memory and emotion but stuck in the “dagger” of “altered states of consciousness” which seems to purport that it is like L S D, Peyote or sacred mushrooms. If so, it is way down the list of hallucinogens. C/MJ does produce a “high” but for medical users this is an adverse side effect. Almost nowhere in their presentation did they state that it was a very effective and safe medicine for about 100 disparate medical conditions. They did point out that the U.S. Government estimated that about 100,000,000 Americans had used Cannabis/Marijuana and 15,000,000 used it daily. They stuck in another dagger that there were about 750,000 arrests every year which is the greatest danger of C/MJ use. It is the third most common felony. I will admit that it was first used as a psychotropic so that users could see into the future and maybe even see and talk to God or The Gods. It took awhile before people discovered it was good as medicine for a wide variety of diseases. It started to be used as such in China, India and even Egypt maybe 4000 years ago and it was comparable and contemporaneous with Opium which has a similar history. It was used before Aspirin and was found to be very effective for severe pain such as Labor pains, Rheumatic pains and also Asthma. It is most likely the best therapy for forgetting P T S D (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). A really full listing is presented in Granny Storm Crows list in both her short and long forms. Pancho Villa and his Compadres introduced it into the U.S. about 1920 with the song La Cucaracha (The Cockroach) La cucaracha, la cucaracha, Ya no puede caminar, Porque no tiene, porque le falta, La marijuana que fumar. Soon to follow were the Black Jazz musicians of New Orleans after which it spread in the US like wild fire. C/MJ is possible the best safest mild medical tranquilizer in existence. It beats Alcohol and Tobacco all hollow and different from these two lethally toxic drugs has never killed anybody or caused serious harm. They didn’t say so but the value of C/MJ in the U.S. probably approaches $50 BILLION per year with the most money going to the Mexican Mafia and other similar criminals. I will say this ANY positive statements about CANNABIS/MARIJUANA is good. MARIJUANA SHOULD BE LEGALIZED!!! Dr. Phillip Leveque has degrees in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology and minors in physiology and biochemistry. He was a Professor of Pharmacology, employed by the University of London for 2 years, during which time he trained the first doctors in Tanzania. After training doctors, he became an Osteopathic Physician, as well as a Forensic Toxicologist. Before any of that, Phil Leveque was a Combat Infantryman in the U.S. Army in WWII. He suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder more than 60 years after the war, and specialized in treating Veterans with PTSD during his years as a doctor in Molalla, Oregon.
