Body Found at Clatsop Beach Identified as Portland Man

(ASTORIA, Ore.) -
63-year old William Don Harris from Portland, Oregon has been identified as the deceased male found on Clatsop Beach wearing a life jacket with an unoccupied kayak nearby Wednesday evening.
On June 24, 2009 at about 6:45 PM, Oregon State Police troopers and Clatsop County deputies were dispatched to a deceased body that had been located on Clatsop Beach, about five miles north of Seaside.
Investigators at the scene surmised that the man was likely kayaking prior to his death.

Teen Girl Survives Fatal Traffic Crash on I-5 North of Albany (UPDATE)

61-year old James Paul Marlowe Jr, died in the crash and 17-year old Levi Brown was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
(ALBANY, Ore.) -
Oregon State Police troopers are investigating a single vehicle fatal traffic crash north of Albany that happened along the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 at approximately 1:15 p.m.
Lieutenant Mark Cotter with Oregon State Police in Albany, say James Paul Marlowe Jr. was transporting a female student passenger for the Greater Albany Public School District as part of a special program in the Salem/Keizer school district.

Officials Identify Woodland Teens Killed in Train Accident

The two apparently didn't hear the Amtrak train blow it's whistle.
(KELSO, Wash.) -
15-year old Edward "Eddie" Denson and 15-year old Katelen "Katie" Blacklaw, both of Woodland, have been identified by Cowlitz County Coroner Tim Davidson as the teens killed by an Amtrak train Tuesday evening.
Next of kin have been notified and are grieving privately after being notified by Davidson and Cowlitz County Sheriff's Captain Mark Nelson.

Salem Police Investigating Three Deaths As Homicide

The cause of death of the victims and their identities has not been released.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
The Salem Police Department said today that they will be proceeding in the investigation of three deaths in a fire at 1375 Cross St SE as a homicide investigation.
The Salem Fire Department was dispatched to a fire alarm at ML Holmes General Contractor at 6:47 pm on Sunday, March 15, and three bodies were found in the fire.

Police Say Beaverton Man Killed Wife With Hammer

A Beaverton man has been arrested for the murder of his wife.
(BEAVERTON, Ore.) -
A call to Beaverton Police early Monday morning alerted authorities to a murder scene.
The victim was 49-year old Nabintu Kelekele Kalamba and the suspect, her husband, is 50-year old Namegabe Kelekele Mushegero.

Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Crash on Interstate 82 Near Umatilla

The driver and three other occupants were using safety restraints and were not injured.
(UMATILLA, Ore.) -
Police say a 5-year old boy died Saturday night after he was ejected from the family's vehicle as it rolled over off the southbound lanes of Interstate 82 south of Umatilla.
The other four occupants, two adults and two children, were not injured according to Oregon State Police.
They say the names and city of residence are withheld pending notification to the victim's father who is out of the country.

Police Investigate Fatal Crash on I-84

Oregon State Police troopers from the La Grande Area Command office are continuing the investigation.
(LA GRANDE, Ore.) -
Police say an Eagle, Idaho man died Saturday morning on Interstate 84 about ten miles east of La Grande when his pickup drove onto the shoulder of the freeway and crashed into an unoccupied tow truck assisting another motorist involved in an earlier traffic crash.
Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Ryan Moorehead says that around 11:15 AM, a 1998 Dodge pickup driven by 44-year old John A. Sears of Eagle, Idaho, was eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 270 in the left lane.
The pickup traveled from the left across to the right onto the shoulder and crashed into an unoccupied parked tow truck. The tow truck was assisting another motorist involved in an earlier crash.

An Oregon State Police Bomb Technician and Woodburn Police Officer were killed, and the Woodburn Chief of Police was critically injured Friday afternoon when an explosive device detonated at a Woodburn area bank.
On December 12, 2008 at approximately 10:32 AM a Woodburn-area Wells Fargo Bank received a threatening phone call from an unknown person. Bank personnel notified Woodburn Police Department and the bank was evacuated.
With the assistance of the FBI and Senior Trooper Hakim, officers located a suspicious object that was determined to not be dangerous.

Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Crash West of McMinnville (PHOTOS)

A man driving a lunch wagon was rear-ended by one semi, and pushed into a second semi traveling the other direction.
(McMINNVILLE, Ore.) -
Police say one person died Tuesday morning in a three vehicle fatal traffic crash on Highway 18 west of McMinnville. The highway was closed until 4:30 PM and no citations or enforcement action has been taken.
Hessel says that at 8:32 AM, 40-year old Miguel Martinez-Perez of McMinnville, was operating a 1988 Chevrolet R300 modified motor home, reconfigured as a mobile restaurant, westbound on Highway 18 at the intersection with Caleb Payne Road and Christensen Road.
The Chevrolet was beginning to turn left onto Christensen Road when it was struck from behind by a westbound 2001 Mac truck pulling an empty chip trailer. Hessel says the impact pushed the Chevrolet into the left side of an eastbound empty 1998 Kenworth truck driven by 32-yeare old Michael Olson of Astoria.

Icy Santiam Pass Claims Life of Powell Butte Woman

(DETROIT, Ore.) -
A Powell Butte woman was killed Friday morning when she lost control of her car on an icy stretch of Highway 22 west of Santiam Pass and collided with an unloaded log truck, according to Oregon State Police (OSP) Sergeant Derek Bischoff.
Police say that at about 7:45 AM, a Honda Civic driven by 59-year old Lynne Angland, from Powell Butte, was westbound on Highway 22 near milepost 71 when her car lost control coming out of a right curve.
The Honda veered into the eastbound lanes where it collided nearly head-on with an unloaded log truck driven by 31-year old John Freeman Jr., from Bend.
