Salem Man Arrested for Shooting Police Officer

Salem Police Detective Angus “Scotty” Emmons was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police detectives were in their vehicle after conducting an investigation when an unknown vehicle drove up next to the detectives and several shots were fired at the detectives’ vehicle.

One of the bullets penetrated the car, striking a detective in the arm.

Drugs and Stolen Fire Equipment Discovered in Hillsboro

Suspect Mitchell was discovered to be already in custody at the Washington County Correctional Facility.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore.) - CRT investigators located and recovered nearly all the property stolen from the West Valley Fire Department burglary which included medical supplies, radios, and protective equipment.

In addition to the stolen property, a commercial drug amount of methamphetamine, illicit prescription pills, and evidence of delivery of a controlled substance was located.

COVID-19 Cases and Deaths Mounting in Oregon

Oregon reports 4 new deaths and 217 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - COVID-19 has claimed four more lives in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 224.

The Oregon Health Authority reported at 12:01 a.m. today that there are 217 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 10,817.

Oregon Caves Closed but Offering Ranger Walks, Talks and Outreach

All Activities Adhere to the Latest COVID-19 Health Guidance, Tours Remain Closed

(CAVE JUNCTION, Ore.) - While Cave tours remain closed, Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve is offering ranger-led nature hikes and outreach presentations through August 2, 2020.

All surface areas of the park remain open for hiking and other uses. The Oregon Caves Visitor Center and the Illinois Valley Visitor Center are open daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Bring lots of questions.

Five More Oregonians Added to COVID-19 Death Toll

Oregon reports 218 new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases, 5 new deaths

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon Health Authority reported 218 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 bringing the state total to 10,605.

An outbreak of 22 cases of COVID-19 has been reported at Columbia River Processing in Morrow County. The cases include all persons linked to the outbreak, which may include household members and other close contacts to an employee.

Gas Prices Stay Fairly Steady in all 50 States

For the week, the national average remains at $2.18 a gallon. The Oregon average adds two cents to $2.61.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Drivers who hit the road for Independence Day found pump prices were about 60 cents a gallon cheaper than last year. The national average was the cheapest for the holiday since 2004 and the Oregon average was at its cheapest since 2016.

A few states also saw prices jump due to fuel tax increases on July 1. This includes California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, South Carolina and Maryland.

Oregon Reports 168 New Confirmed and Presumptive COVID-19 Cases

Oregon’s death toll from COVID-19 is currently at 215.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - OHA released its Weekly Testing Summary today, which showed that for the week of 6/28-7/5, 39,914 tests were conducted. Of those tests 5.3 percent were positive.

The Oregon Health Authority reported 168 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 bringing the state total to 10,395 cases.

7 Men Arrested on Oregon Coast for Harassing Black Family

Lincoln City Police arrested the group of men after they caused a "disturbance on the beach".

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - The initial officers arriving on scene in one of the Lincoln City Police Department’s beach ATV’s were immediately surrounded by this group of about 10 people who began taunting and challenging the officers for seizing illegal fireworks.

Several other officers arrived on scene and learned that this same group of white people had been taunting and challenging a family of black persons by yelling racial slurs at them, insulting them and using Nazi salutes towards them.

Dallas Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

A 4th of July ride in Eastern Oregon turned deadly for one Oregon man.

(WASCO COUNTY, Ore.) - A Harley-Davidson rider was killed in a crash Saturday, July 4th, near milepost 38 on Hwy 197 in Wasco County.

The riders were slowing to turn left onto Juniper Flat Rd., however, he was apparently unable to stop and crashed, avoiding the other motorcycles.
