Oregon Roadkill Salvage Law Now in Effect

No longer is it a crime to salvage a fresh killed deer or elk for personal use.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon roadkill Salvaging deer and elk struck by vehicles is now legal in Oregon. If you do hit and kill a large wild animal or see a dead one on the roadway, remove it to the side of the road if it is safe to do so. If this can’t be done safely, call 911.

Only deer, elk and unprotected animals may be salvaged from roadways. It remains unlawful to salvage cougar, bear, pronghorn, bighorn sheep or Rocky Mountain goat.

UPDATE: Salem SWAT Deployed for Barricaded Burglary Suspect

Salem Police are on scene at this time. Citizens are asked to keep their distance.

(SALEM, Ore.) - salem police UPDATE:
At approximately 1:20 p.m. Kenneth Ketchem was taken into custody by Salem SWAT. He is currently being treated for injuries.

The Salem Fire Department is on scene fighting a fire set by Ketchem while he was barricaded inside the residence. Numerous charges are forthcoming. No other people were injured in the incident.

Second Fatal Crash into Willamette River this Month

The vehicle was fully submerged but visible in the river.

(BENTON COUNTY, Ore.) - fatal crash At 7:30 this morning, deputies from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash into the Willamette River on Highway 20, mile marker 2, just east of Corvallis.

The location was approximately a half mile east of the location where a car had fatally driven off Highway 20 on January 7th.

Victims Identified in Oregon Quadruple Murder

Four people were murdered Saturday, Jan. 19, in rural Clackamas County between Woodburn and Canby.

(CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore.) - Mark Leo Gregory Gago Upon arrival, deputies were involved in a deadly force situation in which the homicide suspect was killed. The suspect was identified as 42-year old Mark Leo Gregory Gago.

Investigators have determined that there are 4 homicide victims and 2 survivors.

Oregon Man Receives 6.5 Years in Prison for Child Porn

"Alarming": Michael Miner uploaded child pornography to social media and a cloud-based network.

(MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore.) - Michael Scott Miner Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced that 39-year-old Michael Scott Miner received a six and a half year prison sentence for being in possession of child pornography.

During this investigation, law enforcement learned that the defendant used his smartphone to search for, download and duplicate numerous child pornography photos and videos.

Legal Home Growing of Marijuana Proposed in Washington State

Positive changes are afoot for adults in Washington....finally.

(OLYMPIA, Wash.) - homegrown cannabis Legislation in Washington State has been pre-filed which would legalize home growing of marijuana by adults age 21 and older.

The bills, HB 1131 and SB 5155, would legalize small home grows of 6 plants per adult 21+ to a maximum of 15 plants per housing unit as defined in Washington law. Landlords could prohibit home growing by their tenants.

Convicted Felon Guilty of Sex Trafficking

Investigation of convicted felon results in prison sentence

(MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore.) - Marvin Glenn Mitchell Mitchell admitted that in March 2017 he intentionally engaged in conduct that aided, facilitated and promoted the sex trafficking of two females.

Furthermore, Mitchell admitted that he knowingly caused physical injury to one of the females and that the assault was committed in the immediate presence of a child.

Newberg Man Sentenced 30 Years for Multiple Rapes

The abuse continued for several years until it was disclosed to authorities.

(YAMHILL COUNTY, Ore.) - Andrew Darby 47-year old Andrew Lee Darby, of Newberg, was sentenced to 30 years in prison, after a guilty plea in Yamhill Circuit Court January 4th.

Darby was convicted of Rape and Sodomy after an investigation by the Newberg-Dundee Police Department, involving multiple juvenile victims of sexual assault.

Thieves Use Heavy Equipment for ATM Heist

They left the ATM behind and are still on the run.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore.) - First Federal Bank Heist When officers arrived on scene, they saw a large piece of construction equipment and the bank's ATM sitting aside. The equipment was used to push the ATM off of its concrete mooring and across the street.

The heavy equipment was determined to be stolen from near the location. Both the construction equipment and the ATM were abandoned at the scene.
