OSP Grief-Stricken by Loss of Sergeant Marcus McDowell

The manner of death has been determined to be suicide.

(WALLOWA COUNTY, Ore.) - On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, Sergeant Marcus McDowell, who works out of our La Grande Patrol Office, was found deceased in his patrol car.

Sergeant McDowell was a seventeen-year veteran of this agency.

$1,000,000 in Prop/Movie Money Stolen on Oregon Coast

Prop/movie money has created issues for local businesses in the past.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - On Thursday March 31st, 2022 Newport Police Officers were dispatch to a report of a car break-in at the north end of Newport. The owner of the vehicle reported, among other things, that approximately $1,000,000 (one million) dollars in fake prop/movie money was taken.

The prop/movie money was in $10, $20 and $100 denominations.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Over the past decade, Oregon witnessed the sixth-highest number of domestic violent extremism incidents in the nation. The troubling increase of domestic violent extremism in recent years, both in Oregon and nationwide, indicates a clear risk to Oregonians that requires a strategic, informed response.

Today, Secretary of State Shemia Fagan and the Oregon Audits Division released an advisory report that addresses this risk and identifies efforts Oregon state agencies can undertake to thwart it.

Motorcyclist Killed In Crash on Friday

As he passed the cars on their left, the lead car, a 2007 Audi, began a left turn. Murphy struck the left side of the turning Audi throwing him from the motorcycle.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - There are 35 new COVID-19-related deaths in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 6,743, Oregon Health Authority (OHA) reported at 12:01 a.m. today.

OHA also reported 1,116 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 697,775.

Brandon Matthew Nagy Convicted on Multiple Counts of Child Abuse

An infant boy suffered numerous injuries at the hands of Brandon Nagy.

(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - In early 2017, Mr. Nagy was left alone with his girlfriend’s infant son. Then, the child’s mother received a call from Nagy indicating that the boy appeared to be having a seizure. Medics arrived and discovered that numerous abusive injuries had been inflicted on the small child.

Pediatricians also discovered a healing fracture in the child’s jaw.
