Poll Finds Salem Voters Support Third Bridge

While some portion of the project likely will be paid for using federal and state funds, the current funding climate indicates that local funding must be a significant portion of the total funding.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Willamette River in Salem The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with polling firm Action Solutions, have found that 65 percent of Salem voters approve of an additional vehicle bridge across the Willamette River in Salem.

The scientific poll was conducted on March 11 of this year and included participation from a sample size of 474 registered voters throughout Salem.

The Volcanoes have averaged over 100,000 fans for 17-plus seasons in Keizer since opening their gates for the inaugural season in 1997.

Oregonians Urged to Leave Young Deer Alone

These acts of kindness do more harm than good.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon Deer The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says in just the past two weeks, wildlife biologists have reported several instances of people taking young deer fawns out of the wild.

ODFW says a well-meaning person finds a young deer fawn alone in the wild, assumes it is lost, orphaned or hurt, and takes it home with them to nurse it back to health. Not only is this a bad idea, it’s against the law.

Tool Box Causes Salem Civic Center to be Evacuated

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Bomb City of Salem employees were evacuated Wednesday morning from the Vern Miller Civic Center after someone found a suspicious device.

Salem Police spokesman Lt. Dave Okada says the black box was just a bit bigger than a shoe box, and was left near a window on the first floor.

Railroad Box Car Catches Fire in Albany Rail Yard

The cause of this fire has been determined to be accidental

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - The Albany Fire Department responded to the Willamette Pacific Freight Yard, 725 Waverly DR NE, in Millersburg at approximately 11:07 a.m. on Monday, to a report of a fire in a parked railroad box car.

When firefighters arrived at the scene in about eleven minutes they found a single railroad box car fully involved in fire and saw that an additional railroad car was attached on both ends.

Oregon State Police Searching for Missing Keizer Man

His family told police his behavior is out of character and that he recently began taking newly prescribed medications.

(KEIZER, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police are asking for the public's help in locating a man missing from Keizer.

53-year-old Robert Allen Knupp was last seen Saturday evening and his vehicle found unoccupied at the Santiam Rest Area along Interstate 5 south of Salem.

Man Who Escaped From Oregon Prison Back Behind Bars

Clinton Swearingen was arrested Friday near the Pioneer Courthouse in downtown Portland.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - An inmate who escaped May 4, from Deer Ridge Correctional Institution in Madras, Oregon is now in custody in the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Law enforcement officials arrested 31-year-old Clinton Orvill Swearingen II on Friday evening at approximately 7:36 p.m. on charges of disorderly conduct in the second degree, failure to obey a police officer, and resisting arrest.
