More than 75,000 people in the United States have enrolled in the Text2Quit program through quit lines and enrollment is on the rise. Study Finds Texting May Help You Quit Smoking

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - More than 11 percent of smokers who used a text- messaging program to help them quit did so and remained smoke free at the end of a six- month study as compared to just 5 percent of controls, according to a new report by researchers at Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University.

“Text messages seem to give smokers the constant reminders they need to stay focused on quitting,” says Lorien C. Abroms, ScD, MA, an associate professor of prevention and community health at Milken Institute and the lead author of the study.

Comedian Tracy Morgan in Critical Condition Following Bus Crash

One person is dead, and three others are also in critical condition.

(NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.) - Comedian and actor Tracy Morgan is in critical condition this morning, following a limo bus crash on the New Jersey Turnpike.

State police say the bus overturned at around 1:00 a.m. EST north of Exit 7A, just north of the city of Trenton.

On D-Day; Thousands Turn Out for New Oregon WWII Memoral

3,771 names line the stones walls of the memorial.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - On the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of Europe, nearly 2,000 Oregon veterans and their families gathered at Willson Park in Salem for the dedication of the Oregon WWII Memorial.

According to the Historical Outreach Foundation, of the 152,000 Oregonians who served during WWII, an estimated 20,000 are still alive today and 3,772 are recorded as having paid the ultimate sacrifice during the war.

The two black granite walls bear the names of the more than 3,770 Oregonians who gave their lives while serving in combat.

McMinnville Teen Arrested on Multiple Sex Crime Charges

Police fear there could be more victims.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - In early May of 2014, McMinnville Officers received a report about a teenage juvenile female that had been sexually assaulted by Fernando Serratos about a year ago.

These assaults have occurred from three years ago to within the last few weeks. They have also occurred in a variety of locations around the city of McMinnville.

Police Chase Ends With One of Salem`s Most Wanted Behind Bars

Two female passengers, age 30 and 24, were not lodged in jail.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police, with the assistance of Salem Police Department and Marion County Sheriff's Office, arrested a 33-year old man Thursday night who was listed as one of SPD's most wanted following an attempt to elude.

At approximately 11:37 p.m. Thursday night, an OSP trooper witnessed traffic violations by the driver of a Chrysler 3000 displaying Oregon license plates and attempted to stop the vehicle southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 262.

Films of Early Years of Hydroelectric Power in The Northwest Recovered

So far, the BPA Library has mailed more than 1,800 copies to people all over the region.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - hydroelectric The Bonneville Power Administration Library has released a new collection of six BPA produced films from the 1930s, '40s and '50s that takes viewers on a cinematic journey into the early years of the Northwest hydroelectric power and transmission systems.

The DVD set, titled "BPA Film Collection Volume 1, 1939-1954," is the first compilation of films from the agency's archives ever made available.
