Fireworks Now on Sale in Oregon

There were 197 reported fireworks related fires in Oregon during 2013, resulting in one death.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - oregon firework sales The Office of State Fire Marshal, Oregon fire service, Keep Oregon Green, natural resource agencies, Oregon fireworks wholesalers, and safety experts encourage Oregonians to "Keep it Legal and Keep it Safe" when using fireworks.

Oregon law bans possession, use, or sale of fireworks that fly, explode, or travel more than six feet on the ground or 12 inches into the air.

Police Searching for Missing Oregon State Hospital Patient

Shawn C. Hall was last seen at the Home Town Buffet on 82nd Avenue in Portland at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Monday.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon State Hospital Missing Patient The Oregon State Police is asking for the public's help in locating a 37-year-old psychiatric patient from Oregon State Hospital in Salem.

OSP spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings says the patient, Shawn C. Hall, is not considered to be a danger to himself or others. He went missing on Monday.

Former POW Bowe Bergdahl Now in Outpatient Care

Bergdahl's next phase of recovery will be treatment tailored for soldiers who have spent time in captivity.

(SAN ANTONIO, Texas) - Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, who spent five years as a Taliban prisoner of war before being released last month, has been discharged from a military hospital in Texas and will continue treatment as an outpatient, the Army said Sunday.

Bergdahl was transferred from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, to the nearby Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, said Army spokeswoman Lieutenant Colonel Carol McClelland.

Semi Carrying Seafood Waste Crashes in Oregon Coast Range

Highway 26 is now open in both directions.

(BANKS, Ore. ) - Seafood Truck Crash Oregon State Police are continuing to investigate a early Sunday morning crash in the Oregon Coast Range.

Police say at around 6:30 a.m., a commercial truck carrying 40,000 pounds of compressed seafood waste was traveling eastbound on Highway 26 near milepost 35 when it went off the right shoulder and crashed into bordering trees.

Search For Well Known Writer has Deadly Ending

(SEATTLE, Wash. ) - Karen Sykes The three-day search for a well-known outdoors writer who went missing while hiking on Mount Rainier took a grim turn Saturday, when a body was discovered in rough terrain off the trail where she was last seen.

The body has not been officially identified to be that of 70-year-old Karen Sykes, an author who penned the “Hike of the Week” column for the former Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

One Dead, Five Rescued After Boat Capsizes on Columbia River

The crew of the Teresa D reported rescuing five people from the water, but that a sixth person was still missing.

(WARRENTON, Ore.) - U.S. Coast Guard Oregon A Good Samaritan and Coast Guard crews rescue five people and recover one person from a capsized boat on the Columbia River Bar, Friday.

Coast Guard Sector Columbia River watch standers received a call, at 9:19 a.m., from the crew of the 27-foot vessel Teresa D, stating that they had witnessed a 25-foot aluminum guide boat capsize on the Columbia River Bar with people in the water and that they were trying to rescue survivors.
