Marijuana Hazards and Schizophrenic Anti-Cannabis Pseudoexperts

Includes a list and answer his complaints about Medical Marijuana.

The Reefer Madness phase continues with today's media...

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - I must thank the Oregonian Newspaper for continually giving me information for my stories. The most recent was Oct. 6, 2010 with a headline Weighing Medicinal Pot Sales with a huge color picture of a person weighing Marijuana (for sales?) which favorably promoted Measure 74 for legalizing Marijuana dispensaries. We need all of the favorable publicity we can get.

Then two days later they published on the editorial page two totally scurrilous diatribes about how FOOLISH and DANGEROUS the whole idea was. If that isn’t schizophrenia, I don’t know what is.

In truth, we already have Marijuana dispensaries with 35,000 Medical Marijuana card holders and about 8,000 care givers. What does the Oregonian call these transactions? The DHS (Dept. of Human Service) and the Legislature conjured up an idea that growers should GIVE their crops to others.

Bad idea! It never happened! There seems to be about 5000 growers and grow sites and they are NOT giving their crops away, surprise! Thankfully the Oregonian was not especially negative about the dispensaries but WOW the OPEDs or Letters to the Editor were smoking hot diatribes.

The first by Brian O’Leary was replete with the most scurrilous comments. First of all advocates are Poltroonish. I haven’t seen that word since WWII when I was in an Infantry Poltroon in the Army. He says we are really making an end-run for legalization. The U.S. Government says 300,000 people in Oregon use Marijuana ignoring laws already and Measure 74 is sanctioning Gangsters, Lawlessness, Cowardice and Outlawry. If so it’s only because the laws are stupid and unenforceable.

Two days later the Oregonian posted another diatribe by a Dr. Itai Danovitch, of Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in L.A. He has been reading the Hearst newspapers from 1930’s. His allegations are so totally false I think he is trying to be a prosecution expert witness about the “dangers of Marijuana” about which he knows very little.

I’m going to list and answer his complaints about Medical Marijuana:

1. It increases health risks. ANSWER: It is used effectively for at least 100 diseases with few, if any, risks.
2. It’s highly toxic and longterm toxic. ANSWER: Its been used for 4000+ years with very little harm.
3. It causes about 9% addiction. ANSWER: Compared to alcohol, morphine and tobacco it is very benign and even beneficial.
4. It causes problems of education, work and relationships. ANSWER: Lets compare it to the (3) above.
5. It impairs memory and learning. ANSWER: compare it to Oxycontin, a very legal, widely used lethal drug.
6. It impairs driving. ANSWER: Alcohol is a far worse hazard.
7. It unmasks schizophrenia. ANSWER: It is used to successfully treat this.
8. It causes anxiety and depression. ANSWER: It is used successfully to treat these BUT overdoses CAN cause these.
9. It causes inflammation and bronchitis. ANSWER: Quit smoking the cheap stuff and use a vaporizer.
10. It is linked to lung cancer. ANSWER: It kills cancer.
11. It slows processing information. ANSWER A slight overdose is like a 3 martini lunch.

Alcohol and Morphine are much worse.
