(MOLALLA, OR) - When I first heard about Holton’s total arrogant antagonism to Medical Marijuana patients, I was not surprised but when I read about all of his supporters and endorsements I nearly fell off my stool. Almost every major newspaper in Oregon supported him, twenty organizations of every stripe did also, dozens of Sheriff’s in most of the counties were in lock-step, likewise, many District Attorneys jumped in, a whole bunch of City and County elected officials fell into place, community and business leaders by the score came on board, and dozens of attorneys join the fracas. I just didn’t imagine that so many people, the upper 1%, would be so much against the lower 99% who either use Marijuana or know of some sick or disabled person who uses it as medicine. After all the U.S. Government estimates that 10% of Oregonians, or 300,000 people, use it either daily or occasionally. The largest group is those aged 16 to 24 and almost none have permits. Still Holton was targeting the older Medical Marijuana patients. He can’t hope to stop the High School and College age folks from using it. The Oregon Medical Marijuana patients represent the core group who really need Marijuana as it DOES give the best relief for the diseases allowed by the state. Holton made his antagonism to Medical Marijuana his number one platform in threatening “to prosecute violations of Federal and State laws to the fullest extent” This includes every user, grower and seller or about 300,000 persons. The supporters of his opponent who won the election, former judge Ellen Rosenblum, were not just the medical users. One of Judge Rosenblum’s most notable supporters was former Governor and State Legislator, Barbara Robersts, who has been a strong supporter of Oregon’s Death with Dignity Act and also Oregon Hospice Care for those dying a painful death. Her husband, Senator Frank Roberts, died a horribly tortuous death from cancer and was on very high doses of Morphine for many months or even years. It does not surprise me that Governor Roberts would support Judge Rosenblum’s stance supporting Medical Marijuana. It would have saved her husband much severe pain and the horrible side effects of Morphine. Rosenblum was also supported by former Attorney Generals Dave Frohnmayer and Hardy Myers. Nike co-founder, Phil Knight, contributed $25,000 to her campaign which netted a total of $350,000 which was about the same as the Anti-Marijuana hooligans contributed to Holton. It is probable that most of the Medical users and very many of the recreational users of Marijuana voted against Holton and for Rosenblum. At this time, May 20th, the voters for legalization of Marijuana have brought in over 100,000 signatures for the petition and expect to bring in a total of about 150,000 petitions. Holton’s arrogant scare tactics brought the Marijuana users “out of the closet”. OREGON IS AGAIN LEADING THE WAY FOR THE UNITED STATES!!!______________________________________________________

While the very first opinion she voiced was we need more money to go after growers? I bet she will be endorsing getting rid of the individual growers and making them state lic with strict controls and lic requirements .

It would seem to me that if there was a substantial number of people around the country, some congressmen would introduce a Bill to legalize marijuana. Even a large minority, at the very least, there would be a few congressmen attempting to get it legalized. Maybe they just don't see the number of supporters others do? Also some medical/mental health professionals with experience treating PTSD would come out enmass?
