Marijuana: Universal Medical Use of an Ancient/Modern Panacea

It is well known that medical marijuana permits have lowered the use and costs of medical treatment for the indigent on welfare, etc. The increased legal use of medical marijuana in Colorado and Washington will definitely decrease medical costs.

(PORTLAND, OR) - The search for a medical panacea has been going on for more than a couple of thousand years. It comes from the Greek language Panakeia who actually was the Greek Goddess of Universal Healing. In other words, not a real person. She was said to have a poultice or potion, which would heal all diseases.
This sounds like marijuana/cannabis to me.

The list of medical conditions for which it works is rather well known to medical marijuana users, so I won't go into the 60 or more diseases for which it works safer and better than ANY of the co-called standard medications.

From the start about 5,000 years ago, in India or China, the list of diseases which it helps keeps getting longer.

The statement my anti-marijuana scoffers that "You just want to get high" is only believable by those very same scoffers. The same bunch of fools blathering that marijuana/cannabis is dangerous, no longer has any credibility. The U.S. government estimates that about 40 million people use it either daily or occasionally but do not cite any statistics about its harm. I will admit that the occasional high school student will get a hold of some hot stuff, high in THC, and have a bad experience, but patients can get the same adverse effects from Marinol, the synthetic form of THC. It is known fearfully that Marinol causes panic attacks, nightmares and hallucinations. I note that none of the marijuana scoffers have jumped on that bandwagon.

Big pharma has fought this legalization but it wants to get in on this highly lucrative market.
