Sarah Palin Offered $25,000 by Marijuana Policy Reform Advocates

Palin Addresses Alcohol Industry Gathering; MPP-Backed Campaign Offers Her $25,000 to Make Similar Speech to its Supporters

(LAS VEGAS, Nv.) - Tomorrow, at Caesar’s Palace, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin will deliver the keynote address at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America’s national convention.

Immediately following that speech, Dave Schwartz, the campaign manager for Nevadans for Sensible Marijuana Laws (NSML), will offer Palin $25,000 to deliver a similar address to supporters of a regulated marijuana market in this country.

In exchange for the $25,000, Palin will be asked to speak at one of NSML’s upcoming events, acknowledge the fact that marijuana is just as legitimate a recreational substance as the substance she is talking about at the WSWA convention (in fact, it is objectively much safer), and endorse taxing and regulating marijuana in Nevada and throughout the U.S.

“There’s no reason why former governor Palin should reject our offer,” Schwartz said.

“The health effects of the substance she is talking about at the WSWA convention cause 33,000 deaths in the U.S. annually. The comparable number for marijuana is zero. Alcohol is also associated with violent crime and other destructive acts, while marijuana is not. If Gov. Palin is comfortable endorsing that product, we are certain she will endorse ours. We look forward to negotiating with her team to find a time that works in her schedule.

“Let me make one thing clear. In making this offer, we are not intending to attack the alcohol industry or alcohol users,” Schwartz continued.

“Rather, we’re highlighting the fact that marijuana is objectively less harmful than alcohol. It makes no sense to keep marijuana in the criminal market while a former vice-presidential candidate celebrates the alcohol industry. We want legitimate businesspeople in Nevada to benefit from the sales of marijuana, and we want adults to be free to choose whichever substance they prefer —marijuana or alcohol — when they relax after work.”

Nevadans for Sensible Marijuana Laws is a ballot advocacy group formed in Nevada to support a 2012 ballot initiative to tax and regulate marijuana like alcohol in the state. It receives significant funding and support from the Marijuana Policy Project.

Alcohol is legal and marijuana is illegal, other than for medicinal purposes. Sarah will respectfully decline this PR stunt gig. She is a smart woman, unlike the Maddow, Boxer and Clinton type feminists who are a negative force in promoting women equality. Palin may not be the smartest woman in America (and graduated from Harvard), but her common sense kills the liberal ideas which is what I like about her. She may not be an active Gov., but she can beat Reid in his Nevada hometown as a regular citizen, not bad!

Bottom line is that congress will never change federal law dealing with this product. Palin is a moron only to morons. She will not ever run for office again, she has morphed into a Kingmaker, and her power will continue to grow until the radicals are removed from even the lowest levels of power. Mark my words.

Think about it for a second. Even if you do not like Sarah Palin, even if you don't care what she has to say on the subject, many people do like her and care what she says. She is the current sheep herder of the ignorant desperate population who will blindly follow with little encouragement. It is a win win situation for the legalization movement. If she refuses the movement will get a lot of media attention and be able to question politicians reasoning for not wanting to endorse a product that is infinitely times safer than alcohol. We'll be able to question their motives in the open and hopefully be able to educate a lot of readers through this. If she does endorse this product then we have a, sad to say it, very powerful figurehead openly admitting these facts and the ignorant masses who need someone to tell them what to do will follow her. Unfortunately those of us who educate ourselves in an attempt to learn truths are the minority and we need the masses to help us so that we can help them. Regardless if you like Sarah Palin or not this is a very smart strategic move on the NSML's part.

I personally would have prefered for it to have remained a medicine but the idiots in law enforcement, especially in southern California, make that impossible. Until it is legal for all, 21 and over, to posess it the patients aren't safe from the goons. Regulate and control now. Get it out of the hands of criminals and school children who are the primary dealers as the law now stands. Regulate and control now!

Why is this moron continuosly referred to as Governor Palin. She quit... Left office in mid term. She's a looser and a quitter! An extreme example of the dumbing down of America! She's not a governor.

I agree with Daniel that this is a great PR stunt for MMP. Should Sarah accept the offer, she would be nakedly exposed as the corporate whore she truly is. Sister Sarah is nothing more than a greedy political hack who is harvesting the corporate gold paid to politicians at the far right end of the political spectrum. Like all of America's political personalities, the bigger she gets, the more money she will take from anyone who offers. This is the wisdom of MMP's offer. They are betting that just like Barack Obama or John McCain, she will take money from anybody.

I absolutely despise Sarah Palin, and her image certainly perpetuates the pot head myth in the worst way, but her demographic is VERY strongly against marijuana legalization, and they are very fond of her. They will never play because she will never accept, but if she did, it would be a big step for legalization.

I think this is a great PR stunt for MMP , lots of free press and Sarah will not be payed a dime , cause she will not do it even tho she smoked .
