Boa Constrictor on the Loose in SE Salem

The snake is green and tan and despite its name does not have a red tail.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - boa constrictor It's not every day law enforcement is called to help a pet owner find their lost pet.

But when it is a 10 foot, red tail, boa constrictor it perks our attention. That is what brought us to 825 Treewood Lane SE in Salem. The owners of the snake say it has been missing for about four days and it may have slithered out a second story window.

Oregon Man Arrested for Stealing Goods from Cemetery

Deputies used recycling records to locate and arrest 42-year-old Randall Kuschnick of Woodburn for the thefts.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon Cemetery Robber A Woodburn man has been arrested for stealing metal flower pots and 300 feet of fencing wire from a cemetery in rural Marion County.

Marion County Sheriff's Spokesman Stg. Chris Baldridge said, "you would think after thirteen years of law enforcement that the shock factor would be gone, but that certainly was not the case when reviewing this case on June 25."

U.S. Gas Prices Hit Six Year High Due to Violence in Iraq

In the Salem - Metro area, drivers are paying an average of $3.96 a gallon, compared to $3.72 one year ago for regular unleaded gasoline.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Gas Price Pain As the end of the first full month of the 2014 summer driving season, the national price for regular unleaded gasoline is $3.68 per gallon, which is the highest price for early summer in six years.

The average price at the pump has increased for 12 consecutive days for a total of four cents per gallon, narrowing the gap between the current retail price and the 2014 peak of $3.70 per gallon reached on April 28.

Salem Work Crews to Begin Repairs on Upper Bennett Dam

During construction, the south channel around the island and the boat slide at the dam will be closed.

(STAYTON, Ore. ) - Upper Bennett Dam The boat slide at the Upper Bennett Dam will be closed between July 15, and August 30, to allow the City of Salem to make repairs to the Upper Bennett Dam.

During a routine inspection of the Upper Bennett Dam in August 2013, a void area was discovered under the structure that required immediate attention.

New West Salem Grant Funds Available in July

Grant funds will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - West Salem Oregon Beginning in July, the City of Salem will be offering a new grant program, the West Salem Redevelopment Grant Program, to help property owners, businesses, and tenants in the West Salem Urban Renewal Area.

Grant funds may be used to add on to an existing building, construct a new building, or increase building utility for manufacturing purposes.
