(SALEM, Ore. ) - The public is invited to attend a special event at Royal Oaks Park sponsored by East Lancaster Neighborhood Association and City of Salem Public Works Parks Operations to celebrate the many improvements made to the park over the last three years. The event is Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Royal Oaks Park is located at 4882 Carriage Court NE, near Center Street NE and Cordon Road NE. East Lancaster Neighborhood Association received funding from the Salem Parks Foundation for a new shelter roof in 2011. In 2012, the asphalt paths within the park received a makeover thanks to a $7,500 anonymous donation made to the Parks Foundation for improvements at this park. In 2013, a $10,000 anonymous donation was made to improve the tot playground. Both of these donations were matched with a grant from the Salem Park Improvement Fund. ELNA is sponsoring a raffle and handing out goody bags to the first 50 people who attend the festivities. ELNA Co-Chairs Susann Kaltwasser and Sue Fowler will be there along with Mayor Anna Peterson and Councilor Bruce Rogers to help celebrate. The event includes a ribbon-cutting and refreshments.
