(SALEM, Ore. ) - A two alarm fire destroyed a home just east of Salem Monday night. Capt. Trent Friesen with Marion County Fire District No. 1 tells Salem-News.com that they were dispatched to a house fire near the intersection of Silverton Road and 64th Ave. NE just after 8:30 p.m. Because the area where the fire was located had no fire hydrants, crews called in a second alarm for additional resources. Seven engines and four water tankers helped firefighters keep the large flames, or fire embers, from spreading to nearby brush, trees, and the Howell Prairie Cemetery, which is one of the oldest in Marion County. No injuries were reported and the house was a total loss. There was no damage reported to any of the headstones, graves, or any other items at the cemetery. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Salem-News.com will have more on this story when it becomes available. Video by Jerry Freeman Salem-News.com

Just moved to town and sought out local news other than what I would say is the smallest paper I have ever had to pay for plus pay for their website and came across this story. How in the world did they not do this. I saw your video too on Portland TV as well. Why pay for a boring newspaper and their website, when I have this site with just as much or more local, state, and national news? You had me at the video. Keep it up PLEASE!

You guys ROCK! Almost 9:00 a.m. and the local junk newspaper still does not have ONE thing on this, let alone awesome fire video. Keep it up and I will be cancelling my newspaper subscription.
