10 People Safe After Boat Explodes on Willamette River (UPDATED)

5 patients, suffering from minor burns, were sent to area hospitals, treated and released.

(OREGON CITY, Ore. ) - Images of the exploded and sunken boat by the Clackamas Sheriff's Just after midnight Saturday, a 26' cabin cruiser, with 10 passengers aboard, stalled in the middle of the upper Willamette River and exploded approximately one-half mile from the Oregon City falls.

Reportedly, the captain, Ryan Smith, and his passengers, were attempting to restart the engine of this boat while it sat stalled in the middle of the river above the Oregon City falls.

Clackamas Sheriff Identifies Deceased Female Found in Molalla River

toxicology and related laboratory examination results may not become available to investigators for several weeks.

(OREGON CITY) - 55-year old Donna Laverne Schmidt The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has received confirmation, in cooperation with the Oregon State Medical Examiners Office, that the deceased body recovered from the Molalla River earlier this morning is positively identified
as 55-year old Donna Laverne Schmidt.

Donna Schmidt was formally reported as a missing person on March 22nd by her husband, Mark Irvin Schmidt, to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

Human Body Recovery in Willamette River Underway at Oregon City

The body was spotted in the same area that a police pursuit was terminated a couple of weeks ago, where a male subject was believed to have jumped into the Willamette River, in an effort to evade police apprehension.

Crash Blocks Traffic for Hours on Oregon SR 213

The 3:34 AM crash is under investigation by OSP.

(OREGON CITY) - car accident A two-car head on crash sent two people to the hospital early Monday morning. The accident happened on State Route 213 near Milepost 6, about half a mile south of LeLand Road.

Investigators with Oregon State Police say that around 3:34 AM a Ford Ranger pick up collided with a Honda Accord sedan.

The driver of the Honda Accord was 47-year old Jon McGrath from West Linn. He was taken by Life Flight helicopter to the Oregon Health Sciences University trauma center and is in serious condition.

Clackamas Sheriff`s Deputies Seeking Suspects in Bagby Hot Springs Attack

An unidentified male subject,accompanied by a described pregnant female; robbed, menaced, smashed their automobile windows and physically assaulted a couple -- with a baseball bat, who had been visiting at Bagby Hot Springs.

(OREGON CITY) - Smashed car When Joshua Lange and Julie Ann Degroot of Portland arrived at the Bagby Hot Springs parking lot on Monday, about an hour east of Estacada, they noticed that a car parked at this trailhead had visible signs of a vehicle break-in. This did not deter the couple, who then parked and began the 45-minute hike from the trailhead to the hot springs.

After a brief stay at the hot springs, Lange and Degroot were on the trail returning to the trailhead and heard car alarms activated in the distance in the trailhead parking lot.

Man Playing Basketball Involved in Fatal Crash in Milwaukie

No citations were issued with the vehicle involved, and this tragedy is considered by investigators to be an unfortunate accident.

(OREGON CITY) - Investigation on Roots Road Investigators with Clackamas County say 33-year old Gary Elliott Battin was playing basketball with a relative in the driveway of a home he was visiting in Milwaulke when he chased the ball into the street and ran into a trailer being towed by a westboud pickup on Roots Road.

Police Motorcycle Crashes Tuesday in Oregon City

(OREGON CITY) - OSP bike crash scene An Oregon State Police (OSP) motor officer received minor injuries Tuesday morning while responding to a traffic crash. OSP Spokesman Greg Hastings says it happened when a pickup turned in front of the motorcycle. "At the time of the crash, the OSP motorcycle had emergency lights and siren activated."

Around 6:50 AM Tuesday, OSP Trooper Jason Lindland was operating an OSP 2004 BMW motorcycle northbound on Highway 99E in Oregon City responding to a reported traffic crash on Interstate 205.

"With emergency lights and siren activated, Trooper Lindland was in the left northbound lane approaching the intersection with 11th Street when a southbound 1986 Toyota pickup turned left towards 11th Street in front of Trooper Lindland."

Third Grade Teacher Run Down in Parking Lot

Police are looking for the driver of a pick-up truck that reportedly fled the scene.

(OREGON CITY) - Dodge truck Clackamas County investigators are hoping that somebody can help identify that man who left Kimberli Lyons, a third-grade teacher, lying in a parking lot unconscious and suffering from a serious head injury Tuesday.

Witnesses say they saw Kimberli Lyons at approximately 12:30 PM, standing next to a blue, Dodge, pick-up truck conversing with a male driver, who was seated at the steering wheel. They were in the Shell gas station in the Ashley's business complex on State Hwy 212 and State Hwy 26.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance in attempting to identify the suspect involved in this reported incident.

Unknown Chemical Release Sends 11 Employees to Local Hospitals

One employee vomited and passed out, and several more had similar symptoms. Fire officials still don't know what chemicals could have made the people sick.

(OREGON CITY) - A strange odor coming from a commercial trash bin led to the evacuation of all employees at the Metro Recycling Plant in Oregon City. Clackamas Fire and Rescue crews responded to the hazardous materials call at 1:40 PM Friday.

Investigators say it began when an employee near the container became nauseous, vomited and lost consciousness. Several other employees complained of similar symptoms and were taken by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment and observation.

Semi-Truck Grinds to a Halt in Oregon City Tunnel

Nobody was hurt when the Kenworth semi-truck ground to a sudden halt.

(OREGON CITY) - photo: semi-truck stopped in tunnel A commercial truck towing a semi-trailer loaded with wire spools became temporarily stuck Tuesday morning on Highway 99E in the Oregon City tunnel.

The stall required the closure of one lane for about two hours before the vehicles could be removed.

It started when a 1999 Kenworth truck became stuck at 5:30 AM while towing a semi-trailer loaded with wire spools while traveling southbound on Highway 99E entering the Oregon City tunnel.
