Fate of Democracy May Still Hinge On Disinformation and Deceit.
(BEND, Ore.) -
Ever since just-before the Reagan "victory" at the polls, some of us then "in the media" kept hearing about a widespread Far Right billionaire/financed attack to rig longtime Republican Party control, via strong concentration for broad media infiltration across the entire nation.
That same rumor of radical dollar-driven open-attack on clear and clean well-established principles for our democracy has kept on turning up, every so often, all these years.

Op-Ed by Tim King Salem-News.com
Karl Rove steered the nation into troubled waters, now he is jumping ship.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
The real "Decider" will exit the building as of August 31st, leaving the United States in the hands of a national leader with a measured I.Q. of 91. Karl Rove announced his departure from a presidential administration entering its darkest hours.
A report issued by the Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania has been in the news again this week, it details its findings about the President's I.Q. which bears out of a four-month study of the intelligence quotient of George W. Bush. It brings to light the need for Bush to have a "switch hitter" in terms of intelligence.

Lobbyists fear law recognizing true potential of their "contributions" to politicians
(BEND, Ore.) -
Congress for the first time has put real fear into the lives of lavish-handed lobbyists laying out "contributions" as corporate "political speech" at the national level.
The strong and historic new legislation awaits the remarkably revealing action of President Bush, who has remained strangely silent on his decision to sign-or-veto this one --in the midst of multitudinous similar troubles.

"True" conservatives speak out against the A-Bomb Button in Bush's hand as it threatens all worldwide
(BEND, Ore.) -
Three famed authoritative writers see our nation on the very edge of economic, social and cultural degradation, due to the contempt for the Constitution by our current President Bush.
"America as the land of opportunity has passed into history," says Paul Craig Roberts, Reagan Administration Asst. Secretary of Treasury. "The U. S. economy continues its 21st Century decline, even as the Bush Regime outfits its B-2 stealth bombers with 30,000-pound monster 'bunker-buster' bombs for its coming attack on Iran."

(BEND, Ore.) -
Who knows best what really happens in YOUR classrooms? Most parents will agree it must be the teacher and the kids, closest to that vital early-life experience so shaping for all-the-rest.
Most will also agree that their working relationship with the teacher(s) shaping those young lives is among the most essentially important they can ever build.

Corporate Perversions Building A Real Middle Class Revolt
(BEND, Ore.) -
Famed philosopher-historian George Santayana reported, flat and forcefully that "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
Observers of culture, common political and economic realities, and our national life --just beginning the 21st Century-- are painfully aware of first convulsive continuances reflecting rapid return to ANOTHER mass revolt of our American "democratic middle class".

Moore`s `Sicko` Rings Close to Home for This Reporter
Tim King Salem-News.com
There is still triumph left in this world, and Michael Moore delivers a documentary about the healthcare industry that leaves the mind reeling and stinging.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
When I watched 'Sicko' for the first time, I was forced to think about my own recent situation in Afghanistan, where I covered the war for two months last winter with a hernia belt holding my insides in place.
I went to the war carrying about 120 pounds of gear, after a local hospital denied m chance to have corrective surgery before leaving. On a local level, it is exactly what Moore is talking about.

Some In Oregon Still Fail to Distinguish Realities, Seek Now To Seduce Public While Ignoring Corporate Plunder
(BEND, Ore.) -
Impact of prevailing wage regulation on construction of public-funded works --"schools, municipal buildings, roads and so on"-- is now creating "an elevated compensation floor for people in the building trades", states the Bend BULLETIN in an Editorial (Sun. 7/8).
That hands out "a golden shovel" to workers in those trades affected; closely paralleling those surely outrageous "golden parachutes" some favored school administrators got
--by hefty checks handed them at the exit door-- during this past year, the Edit states.

U.S. Must Keep Terror Threat 'Real' to Other Nations, Official Says.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
An American diplomat is concerned that the United States "war on terror" is not being taken seriously in the world, and that the American effort is falling flat in some areas.
Shouldn't it be a good sign if entire nations are missing the boat? Americans are made to run scared by the President administration's dire warnings and "color coded" terrorist alerts, but other people in other places don't seem to take the bait.
