Today, Gov. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island signed legislation that will reduce the penalty for possession of marijuana to a $150 civil fine for most offenses.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters nationwide was conducted on May 12, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports.
(WASHINGTON DC) -
A solid majority of voters nationwide favor legalizing and regulating marijuana similar to the way alcohol and tobacco cigarettes are currently regulated.
Most also don’t believe it should be a crime for people to smoke marijuana in the privacy of their own homes.
