No Injuries in Keizer House Fire

No damage estimate was immediately available and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Fire in Keizer, Oregon at 1554 Manzanita St., 1-17-08 Keizer firefighters responded to a house fire shortly before 6:00 PM Thursday at 1554 Manzanita Street NE. Fire Spokesman Jim Trett says the first fire unit was in route at 5:44 pm and arrived on the scene at 5:48 PM.

"Firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke and an orange glow in the area while approaching from five blocks away," he stated.

Keizer Fire District Honors Outstanding Service

Awards were presented to employees and volunteers with the Keizer Fire District.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Salem-News.com The Keizer Fire District held its annual Firefighter Reception on Monday. The ceremony introduced the new recruits recently accepted into the District’s training program; saw the swearing in of new firefighters and the presentation of the District’s service awards.

Oregon Fire Marshal Nancy Orr joined the District in making the award presentations and delivered the keynote address for the evening.

Keizer Police Officers Recognized During Awards Ceremony

Employees were recognized for service in 2007.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Chief Adams of Keizer Police presenting Officer Olafson with the Police Officer of the Year Award Keizer's Police Chief says their annual awards event allows recognition of accomplishments and contributions, and it also recognizes those individuals who were selected to receive individual awards for their performance in 2007.

In addition to the individual annual awards, Chief Adams recognized several individuals for their years of service to the Keizer Police Department and citizens of Keizer.

Working Smoke Alarm Alerts Residents of House Fire

One pet cat was found deceased, but 2 other cats, 2 rats and a dog survived. Logan the dog was transported for smoke inhalation. In keeping with the season, Keizer firefighters picked up the vet's bill.

Rod Conway with Keizer Fire says the first arriving firefighters reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the attached garage with fire spreading into the living area of the house.

Fire Displaces Six People in Keizer

In all, six people have been displaced from the fire.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Firefighters in Keizer arriving at the scene of a structure fire at 12:54 AM say they saw heavy black smoke coming from the roof, and fire shooting out the front window at 4582 Verda Court NE. The fire was quickly spreading to the adjoining unit.

Fire Department Spokesman Joel Stein says an aggressive attack quickly knocked down the flames and firefighters entered both units to confirm all people were out. Firefighters then initiated search for numerous pets and were able to account for all but one cat that was later found deceased at 4582 Verda Court NE.

Keizer Burglary Interrupted by Property Owner

This burglary was very similar in nature to a burglary that was reported to the Keizer Police Department yesterday, December 20th, in the same neighborhood.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - handcuffs Keizer Police officers were dispatched to a residential burglary that had just been interrupted by the homeowner this morning at 10:00 AM, at 4789 Tate Avenue North.

Keizer Police Captain Jeff Kuhns says the home is under construction at this time, but is nearing completion. The homeowner had apparently stopped by the residence and upon entering the garage she saw the suspect fleeing from it. The suspect was last seen running on foot towards an orchard that is adjacent to this residence.

Police on the Lookout for Suspect in Keizer Dog Shooting

Anyone having information about this incident is asked to contact Keizer Police.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Dog shooting art Police say a six-month old male Beagle was shot in Keizer earlier this afternoon. The Beagle, named “Bishop”, is currently undergoing treatment for its injuries at a local emergency veterinary clinic.

Keizer Police Captain Jeff Kuhns says that around 12:43 PM, Officer Scott Keniston responded to a report of a six month old male Beagle, “Bishop” that had possibly been struck with something that caused injuries.

Mid-Willamette Valley ATM Thief Sought

The suspect, who possibly was wearing a fake nose and glasses, is described as a white male adult, 40 – 50 years of age, with a heavy build.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - ATM suspect photo The Oregon State Police is asking for the public's help with identifying an identity theft suspect related to cases in Marion and Polk counties.

During an eleven day period in June 2007 the unidentified suspect used ATM machines to withdraw approximately $7,300 cash from the victim's account in Salem and Keizer areas, and at Spirit Mountain Casino.

Oregon Broadcaster Makes Questionable Statements over Keizer Medical Marijuana Case

As police try to publicly undermine the wishes of Oregon voters with opinionated statements about Medical Marijuana, an Oregon broadcaster jumps right into the melee by publishing damaging, false statements about one man's character.

(SALEM, Ore.) - armed officers A story published this week by Portland television station KATU appears to carry with it a slanderous remark about a Keizer man who was recently arrested over his marijuana growing operation, that was legal.

They claim that Anthony Beasely "is another convicted felon and certified medical marijuana grower." Wrong. Beasely has not been convicted of a drug offense.
