(KEIZER, Ore.) - Police say a six-month old male Beagle was shot in Keizer earlier this afternoon. The Beagle, named “Bishop”, is currently undergoing treatment for its injuries at a local emergency veterinary clinic. Keizer Police Captain Jeff Kuhns says that around 12:43 PM, Officer Scott Keniston responded to a report of a six month old male Beagle, “Bishop” that had possibly been struck with something that caused injuries. "The owners, Dan and Jenny Cammack of 1430 Shady Lane NE, reported Bishop sustained these injuries when it was outside their residence some five to ten minutes before they reported this incident to the Keizer Police Department." The couple suspected someone in their neighborhood may have intentionally caused harm to their dog, Kuhns said. Bishop was transported to a local emergency veterinary clinic for evaluation and treatment of the injuries. Story continues below "Late this afternoon Officer Keniston learned Bishop was still undergoing medical treatment and observation at the emergency veterinary clinic. The treating veterinarian reported the dog had been shot with a firearm." Kuhns says Keizer Police are not releasing information about the shooting at this time, "The department is not releasing the number of bullets that struck the dog, the precise location of the injuries, the caliber of the bullets, or any other information that could hinder the investigation of this matter." Anyone having information about this incident is asked to contact Officer Scott Keniston with Keizer Police at 503-390-3713 Ext. 3466.
