Keizer Youth Receives Keizer`s Top Life Saving Award (PHOTOS)

The Bob Wickman Lifesaving award is the highest honor the Keizer Fire District can bestow on a person for their efforts to save another's life.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - KFD Board President Greg Ego presesnts Wickman Award to B.J. Delagado He may only be 14-years old, but B.J. Delgado is responsible for his family being alive. B.J. was presented the Bob Wickman Lifesaving Award by the Keizer Fire District this week.

The presentation was made at the beginning of the July meeting of the Keizer Fire District Board of Directors.

11-Year Old Boy Arrested for Arson in Keizer

Police believe an 11-year old boy is responsible for starting a series of fires in Keizer.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Fire in Keizer, Oregon 6-18-09 A Keizer woman says her 14-year old son pulled his sister from the child's burning bedroom during a house fire this morning at 2:15 a.m.

Joel Stein, Fire Marshal with Keizer Fire, says the 6-year old sister was evaluated for possible smoke inhalation by Keizer Paramedics on scene but did not require transport to the hospital.

Keizer Man Severely Hurt in ATV Crash

The victim is currently in critical in the facility's Intensive Care Unit.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Police in Keizer say a 27-year old man was severely injured Friday while riding a 2008 Yamaha 700R ATV east on Appleblossom Drive Northeast.

Sgt. Andrew Copeland with Keizer Police says Rene Rubio was approaching the corner of Appleblossom and Potts Drive when he was unable to negotiate the turn correctly and traveled off the road. "Mr. Rubio was thrown from the ATV into a parked vehicle where he suffered substantial injury."

Keizer Police Investigate Gunshot Wound and Attempted Murder

Police say the incident was an act of targeted violence, and the general public is not thought to be at risk.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Shooting incident Keizer Police responded to a report of a gunshot victim at 1144 Dearborn Avenue NE in Keizer March 15th shortly before 11:00 p.m.

Captain Jeff Kuhns with Keizer police says that upon arrival at the residence, police found an adult male victim with a non life-threatening gunshot wound.

Armed Barricaded Suspect Keeps Salem SWAT Team and Keizer Police at Bay for Hours

26-year old John Nathan White was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and 3 counts of Reckless Endangering. His total bail amount was $25,000.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - 26-year old John Nathan White Police responded to the report of several gunshots being fired in an apartment on Lockhaven Drive Northeast last night around 10:22 p.m.

Officers learned shots went through a neighboring apartment wall where the three victims were sleeping.

Keizer Firefighters Join Stairclimb Event for Fifth Year

The stair climb takes place each year at the Columbia Center Building in Seattle, Washington. At 788 feet in height, it is the tallest building in Seattle and the second tallest building west of the Mississippi river.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer, Oregon fire engine A team of twelve Firefighters from the Keizer Fire District will travel to Seattle, Washington on Sunday, March 8, 2009 to participate in the 18th Annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb.

Fire District Spokesman Jim Trett, says this event, of 1,500 entrants from around the globe, is the largest individual firefighter competition in the world and is a fund raising event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Keizer Fire District Holds Annual Awards Reception‏ (PHOTOS)

A special guest shared the history of the beginnings of emergency medicine in the fire service and the role that the television series "Emergency!" played in that history.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer, Oregon firefighters The Keizer Fire District held its annual Firefighter Reception on Monday, January 19th 2009. Special guest Randolph Mantooth of the television show "Emergency!" delivered the keynote address. The ceremony introduced new recruits, swearing in of new Firefighters by Oregon State Fire Marshal Randy Simpson and the presentation of the District's service awards.

Mantooth is widely recognized for his portrayal of Los Angeles County Firefighter/Paramedic Johnny Gage in the popular 1970's era NBC Universal series "Emergency!"

Pit Bulls Running Loose in Keizer Neighborhood Kill Small Dog

Police say the pit bull's owners cooperated with the investigation and said they understood why they were being cited for this offense.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Pit Bull attack Keizer Police say a small dog was killed by two pit bulls running at large today on Chehalis Drive North. Keizer Police Captain Jeff Kuhns says officers responded to the location after receiving a call from Maria Parocua, who reported her dog, a male two-month old Pomeranian, was just killed by another dog that was described as a pit-bull.

"Officers were told there were actually two pit-bulls that were still running at large in the neighborhood. Officers arrived on scene and were able to back the two pit-bulls into a fenced area where it appeared they belonged," Kuhns said.

This residence Kuhns said, is located at 5387 Chehalis Drive North.
