Keizer Police Respond to two Robberies in 27 Hour Period

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer Police Department Officers from Keizer Police responded to a report of a robbery early this morning at Muchas Gracias Restaurant. This was the second robbery incident reported to Keizer Police in a 27-hour period of time. Muchas Gracias is located at 3861 River Road North.

Two employees were working inside the business at the time of the robbery.

Community Honors 12 Educators With Crystal Apples

(Salem, Oregon) - Salem-Keizer Education Foundation Logo Twelve local educators were honored with a 2010 Crystal Apple Award Thursday night during Salem-Keizer’s annual gala celebration of education excellence.

The recipients, including teachers at all levels, instructional assistants, a principal, and a district maintenance employee, were chosen from a list of 49 nominees, and honored before a full house at Salem’s historic Elsinore Theater.

West Linn Police Arrest Pair After Routine Car-Stop Leads to Evidence Car Prowls in Lake Oswego

(WEST LINN, Oregon) - antera Evelyn Beavis (35 of Keizer) and her ex-husband Bradley Christian Beavis (37 of Salem) West Linn Police arrested Santera Evelyn Beavis and her ex-husband, Bradley Christian Beavis of Salem, after a traffic stop reveals evidence of car break-ins and drug possession.

An officer stopped the car after learning that the owner had an arrest warrant, he turned around to catch up to the car, and it began to drive erratically.

Chemeketa Community College Hosts 28th Annual College and Career Night

(SALEM, Ore.) - Chemeketa Community College Logo Salem - Keizer students will have an opportunity to attend a free college and career fair at Chemeketa Community College. For over 25 years, the College/Career Fair has been an annual tradition and attracts over 800 career bound students.

In 2009, 64 colleges and universities from across the nation participated in the event and this year participation is expected to greater. In addition, trade schools and apprenticeship information will be available from such companies as Bonneville Power Administration and Portland General Electric.

Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Employee Arrested

(KEIZER, Ore.) - arrested Michael Scott James Oregon State Police Major Crimes Section (OSP MCS) detectives arrested an employee of the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Wednesday afternoon following a two-day investigation into an alleged kidnap, sex abuse, and attempted sodomy.

On September 29, 2010, OSP MCS detectives arrested Michael Scott James, age 45, for Kidnap in the First Degree, Attempted Sodomy in the First Degree, and Sex Abuse in the First Degree. Detectives started the investigation Monday following a reported incident that occurred early Sunday morning at James' Keizer-area residence. The 32-year old female victim is an acquaintance but does not reside with the suspect.

Perscription Drug Turn In Results

In less than four hours, Marion County residents turned in approximately one half ton of pharmaceuticals

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer Police Department The Prescription Drug Turn-in event was held on Saturday at six sites throughout Marion County in Keizer, south Salem, northeast Salem, Silverton, Stayton and Turner.

Over 1,000 pounds of drugs from nearly 600 households were collected at the various sites. The Community Action Drug Prevention Network and the hosting law enforcement agencies wish to thank everyone who came out to properly dispose of their unused medications to keep them out of the environment and out of the wrong hands.

Keizer fire prevention week open house

(KEIZER, Ore.) - One of Keizer, Oregons newer fire engines The Keizer Fire District will hold its Annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Monday, October 4, 2010. Hours of the Open House are 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

Visitors will be able to see apparatus displays and get valuable fire safety information. In addition visitors can participate in fun activities and enjoy refreshments.
