Two Hurt During Fire at Keizer Construction Site

The explosion happened at a construction site at the location of the new Keizer Station shopping center near the intersection of Chemawa Rd. NE and the I-5 freeway.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Flames consume a 500k construction tiller An explosion at a construction site in Keizer led to injuries and the total loss of construction equipment valued at half a million dollars.

Flames were reported to be leaping 20 feet into the air, according to Keizer Fire Spokesman Jim Trett.

"Fire crews found one construction worker on the ground a short distance away from the piece of equipment. They also determined that a 6 inch gas line had in fact been punctured and called NW Natural to respond to cut off the gas supply to the site."

Overnight Crash Near Woodburn Injures Two Keizer Residents

Alcohol appears to be a possible factor in the accident.

(WOODBURN, Ore. ) - crash investigation photo The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Woodburn Police Department are investigating a crash that sent two people to the hospital.

Sgt. Jeff Wheeler says just after 11:00 PM, both agencies responded to a crash in the 1700 block of south Boonesferry road. The vehicle, a 2003 Mazda, was traveling southbound on Boonesferry road when it drove into a ditch.

Both occupants of the vehicle appeared to have been ejected from the car Wheeler said.

Keizer Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 214

The rider was wearing a protective helmet and was pronounced deceased at the scene. According to DMV records, he did not have a motorcycle endorsement.

(SALEM) - Crash scene on Hwy 214 in Oregon 4_1_07 State Police say a Keizer-area man died Sunday afternoon when he failed to negotiate a curve on his motorcycle on Highway 214 about five miles west of Silver Falls State Park and crashed into the front of a Jeep Wrangler.

Keizer Family Loses Pet Ferrets, Rats in Three Alarm House Fire

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

(KEIZER, Ore. ) - fire investigation The Keizer Fire District responded to the report of a house fire shortly after 6:00 PM on Sunday.

The fire caused extensive damage to a single family home located at 1351 Lawless St. NE in Keizer.

Upon arriving on the scene they reported that the garage was fully involved in fire with a large amount of flames coming from the back of the home.

Fire crews initially attacked the fire in the garage; their efforts were hampered by live electrical wires that were arching during their suppression efforts, but were able to knock down the flames quickly.

Keizer Police Identify Suspect in 5 Hour Standoff (UPDATE)

A handgun recovered inside the apartment was seized by Keizer Police.

(KEIZER) - Salem-News.com Major police activity in Keizer involving a standoff and evacuations of an apartment complex ended peacefully after five hours today. Police Spokesman Jeff Kuhns says the suspect, a disabled veteran, was transported for mental health care after being taken into custody.

It began Tuesday at 11:04 AM when officers from the Keizer Police Department responded to 5075 10th Avenue NE #102, the New Heritage Village Apartments, in response to a call from the apartment complex manager.

Keizer Stand Off Ends in Arrest

By 4:00 PM the man surrendered to police and was taken to Salem Hospital for a mental evaluation.

(Keizer) - Keizer Police Department Keizer Police took a 51-year old man into custody after a five-hour standoff today. A neighbor who called police says the man served as a Navy SEAL in the Vietnam War.

The incident began around 11:00 in the morning. The neighbor who called police said the man was suicidal and she was concerned for his safety.

It happened at the New Heritage Village apartments in Keizer, in the 5000 block of 10th Avenue NE.

Keizer Police, Fire Hosting Free Child Car Seat Clinic

In 2002, more than 400 U.S. children between the ages of 4 and 8 were killed in car crashes.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - baby in carseat The Keizer Police Department, in partnership with the Keizer Fire District, will be hosting a free child safety seat clinic on Saturday, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

Safety seat clinics are designed to educate parents on the proper installation of safety seats and the children therein.

Specially trained safety seat technicians will be on hand to inspect and install safety seats and will have recall information available.

Keizer Police Arrest Couple Described as Serial Shoplifters

A police officer received minor injuries during the arrest.

(KEIZER) - Eric Evans and Katheryn Boughamer Keizer Police say a couple from Pennsylvania responsible for a number of thefts from Target stores in Oregon were arrested by police officers Sunday.

Keizer Police Sgt. John Troncoso says a series of shoplifts took place beginning February 19th, when a man stole a Magellan GPS unit valued at $600, from the Target store in Keizer. Investigators say he returned on February 21st, and stole another Magellan GPS unit valued at $300.

Keizer Man Transported to Emanuel Hospital After Motorcycle Crash

The rider apparently only sustained minor injuries.

(SALEM) - crash investigation A Keizer motorcycle rider is alive following what police describe as a high speed crash into a barn. Marion County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Kevin Rau says 22-year-old James Mullins slid up to 1,500 feet before crashing.

It happened in Keizer Monday shortly before 11:30 AM. Investigators at the scene say the bike was probably going over 100 mph when the crash happened.

Investigators say Mullins was riding his 1994 Honda CBS motorcycle northbound in the 16500 block of River Rd N when he lost control of the bike which left the roadway and crashed into a barn.
