Police Chase Ends in Arrest

Keizer's Kennedy Elementary School was placed in lock-down status while police searched for the suspect.

(Keizer, Ore.) - Keizer Police arrested a man after a pursuit that ended with the suspect vehicle abandoned near the Kennedy Elementary School. 45-year old Bryan Gilbert Ogden was taken into custody at 12:21 PM.

It began when Keizer Police officers were advised by state police troopers that they were in pursuit of a gold Honda Accord near their area, according to Keizer Police Captain Jeff Kuhns.

The Salem-Keizer School District want to help you protect your children from internet crimes.

Topics include internet predators, cyberbullying, social networking sites, identity theft, and how to talk to your child about internet safety.

Admission is free, registration is not required, and childcare will not be provided.

Faulty Furnace Caused Apartment Fire in Keizer

An apartment fire displaced at least one Keizer resident Saturday afternoon.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Jim Trett, Spokesman, Keizer, Oregon Fire Department Keizer Fire District crews responded to the report of an apartment fire at 1:28 PM Saturday, at 786 Unit C Lockhaven Drive NE in Keizer.

Upon arriving on the scene, crews say they observed smoke coming from the second floor of one of the apartment units.

"Callers to 9-1-1 reported seeing smoke coming from under one of the buildings that make up Lockhaven Hills Estates," Keizer Fire Spokesman Jim Trett said.

Search Warrant Sweep Leads to Many Arrests and Seizure of Over 1 1/2 Pound of Meth

The search warrants led to the arrests of seven people, $37,022.00 in cash, 1 ½ pounds of Methamphetamine, 3 ounces of Cocaine.. Seven children were taken into protective custody by DHS and a 9mm handgun.

(KEIZER) - Cocaine seized Several local police agencies working together as the Marion County Methamphetamine Strike Force, served search warrants were served at eight locations in Marion and Polk Counties Friday

Lt. Doug Garrett with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says the operation marked the culmination of a three-month investigation by the newly formed Meth Strike Force.

Marion County Offering Amnesty for Dog License Violators

All owners and keepers of dogs in Marion County are required by law to purchase a license when a dog reaches six months of age.

(KEIZER) - cute dog photo Marion County Dog Control will offer amnesty for late fees and licensing violations as well as licenses and vaccinations from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM Saturday, May 5th, at Copper Creek Mercantile, 4415 River Rd NE in Keizer.

Dr. Susan MacCarthy, DVM, will provide low-cost vaccinations, health exams, microchipping and flea products for both dogs and catsfrom her mobile clinic at the Marion County licensing booth.

Licenses are $17 a year for neutered or spayed dogs and $32 for unaltered dogs.

Body Identified As Missing Keizer Woman

The investigation into this suspicious death continues.

(KEIZER) - Leslie Diane Kaltenbach The Keizer Police Department has positively identified the deceased subject who was found in the 8500 block of Windsor Island Road North on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at about 2:15 PM as 36-year old Leslie Diane Kaltenbach.

Ms. Kaltenbach was a divorced mother from Salem who had two teenage children, a son and a daughter. According to reports, she always made visiting with her children a priority – something that had not happened since her disappearance.

She was supposed to have visited a family member in Oregon City on the night of April 4th, but never arrived. Family members contacted the Keizer Police Department on April 18th at 10:50 AM to report her as missing.

Body Recovered in Keizer May be Missing Salem Woman

The State Medical Examiner’s Office has tentatively identified a body found Tuesday in Keizer as Ms. Leslie Diane Kaltenbach.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Death investigation Family members of Leslie Kaltenbach contacted the Keizer Police Department on April 18th at 10:50 AM to report her as missing. She was supposed to have visited a family member in Oregon City on the night of April 4th, but never arrived there.

Keizer Police Investigate Suspicious Death

Keizer Police say very limited details are being released at this time due to the nature and sensitivity of the ongoing investigation.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Officers from the Keizer Police Department responded to the 8500 block of Windsor Island Road North Tuesday at 2:15 PM on a report of a possible deceased subject that was found near this location.

Keizer Police Captain Jeff Kuhns says responding officers confirmed the finding was indeed that of a deceased person, it is now under investigation as a suspicious death. Kuhns says cases like this draw numerous resources.

Keizer Fire Calls Surge in Recent Weeks (VIDEO)

Increasing medical calls are increasing the load for this mostly volunteer fire department.

(KEIZER, Ore.) - Keizer Fire gear Firefighters in Keizer have been putting long hours in, as an unusually high number of calls continue to place increased demands on their mostly volunteer agency. Fire Spokesman Jim Trett says numbers are far above last year.

“The first quarter of 2007 just saw a tremendous surge, 17 percent; we’re up to 944 calls for the quarter, which is a call about every two and a half hours. For one station, that’s keeping us fairly busy.”

Salem Man Arrested for Keizer Bank Robbery

No weapons were recovered from the suspect, and no hostages had been taken.

(KEIZER, Ore. ) - keizer bank robbery Keizer Police arrested a Salem man on Monday in connection with a bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 4605 River Road N in Keizer.

Sgt. John Troncoso says officers responded to the bank at 1:44 PM. There were several customers in the bank, and the suspect was reported to be armed with a gun.
