Stayton Woman Killed by Apparent Gun Shot Wound

This is an active investigation.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Stayton Police responded to the 300 block of W. Water St Sunday night at about 7:33 after receiving a "suspicious circumstances" call.

When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased woman inside of the residence with an apparent gunshot wound. A man at the residence was detained by Stayton Police.

(GATES, Ore.) - The incident began in Bend, Oregon, when law enforcement responded to two robberies, a Dutch Bros coffee stand and Domino’s Pizza, and a stolen vehicle.

Oregon State Police Troopers and a Linn County deputy took over the pursuit until the vehicle was finally stopped at approximately 11:45 p.m. with spike strips near mile post 38 on Highway 22, outside the city of Gates.

My editor at Salem-News.com received an email from the criminally convicted pharmaceutical company, Purdue Pharma, maker of OxyContin. The subject of the email was "Follow-up question regarding your media article."

The lawsuit states that Janel was given 164 narcotic prescriptions while under treatment at the Pain Center.
