Believers Against the War Plan Peaceful Protest

“Many of our churches have been spreading the falsehood that this war has a biblical justification. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth."

(CLACKAMAS) - war protest A mix of motives for opposing the war: constitutional, ideological, practical, strategic, political and moral are behind Believers Against the War. But, the one thing that all those who plan to protest on December 23rd, at 2:00 PM, near the Clackamas Town Center, agree on is that it is time to start withdrawing the troops from Iraq.

This planned protest site is the same location that David Brownlow and his soldier-family were denied their 1st Amendment right of free speech and expression, and the right to assemble at their Protest earlier this month.

Oregon Anti-Abortion Group Opposes Measure 43

The following is an opinion from the Oregon anti-abortion group Life Support.

(CLACKAMAS) - Anti abortionists Ordinarily, a pro-life organization like Life Support would be endorsing a ballot measure that purports to reduce the number of children killed by abortion. However, we find ourselves entering into a world of the surreal after reading the “Parental Involvement and Support Act.”

This is such a flawed, compromised piece of legislation, that it does not deserve the support of pro-life Oregonians.

At best, this measure will fail to deliver on the promises made by those who are promoting this misnamed Act.

Man Playing Basketball Involved in Fatal Crash in Milwaukie

No citations were issued with the vehicle involved, and this tragedy is considered by investigators to be an unfortunate accident.

(OREGON CITY) - Investigation on Roots Road Investigators with Clackamas County say 33-year old Gary Elliott Battin was playing basketball with a relative in the driveway of a home he was visiting in Milwaulke when he chased the ball into the street and ran into a trailer being towed by a westboud pickup on Roots Road.

Two Hunters Find Victim That Plunged 100 Feet off Cliff on ATV

Ironically, crash victim Philip Adamson says his brother is the murder victim who was recently discovered, dismembered, in the Columbia River.

Former Prosecutor Tells Why Oregon`s Drug Courts Work

This guest opinion is by Judge Robert Selander of Clackamas County Drug Court. Selander is president of the Oregon Association of Drug Court Professionals.

(CLACKAMAS) - Former prosecutor Robert Selander When I was Curry County deputy district attorney in the early 1970s I sought long penitentiary sentences for most drug offenders. I believed prison was the ultimate sanction. I was wrong.

Practice has shown that putting people behind bars doesn't affect their drug use. For many offenders jail is a social club where old friends meet. Released addicts simply go back to their other friends, old neighborhoods and addictions.

What works for many offenders is drug court.

Fugitive With Racist Ties Sought in Clackamas County

Dale Amstutz-Dunn is also a self-professed member of a notorious hate group, "Oregon Aryan Crime Syndicate".

(CLACKAMAS) - Dale Amstutz-Dunn "This fugitive is to be considered armed and dangerous. He has 17 prior arrests, which are documented as unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felon in possession of a weapon, theft in the second degree and burglary."

Clackamas Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink says deputies are on the trail of 25-year old Dale Amstutz-Dunn, since connecting him to a series of residential burglaries reported in the Colton, south rural area of Clackamas County.

More Information Sought on Alleged Swimming Pool Sex Abuse Case

Police believe there could be additional victims, and they are hoping to hear from anyone who has infornation on the case.

(CLACKAMAS) - Eric Sylvester Johnson Clackamas County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 44-year old Eric Sylvester Johnson of Clackamas on charges of first-degree Sex Abuse I Tuesday, in connection with an alleged incident involving a 12-year-old girl.

Detective Jim Strovinkn with the Clackamas County Sheriff says they are now seeking more information from the public in connection with this investigation, and they are asking any possible, additional victims to come forward.

Unknown Chemical Release Sends 11 Employees to Local Hospitals

One employee vomited and passed out, and several more had similar symptoms. Fire officials still don't know what chemicals could have made the people sick.

(OREGON CITY) - A strange odor coming from a commercial trash bin led to the evacuation of all employees at the Metro Recycling Plant in Oregon City. Clackamas Fire and Rescue crews responded to the hazardous materials call at 1:40 PM Friday.

Investigators say it began when an employee near the container became nauseous, vomited and lost consciousness. Several other employees complained of similar symptoms and were taken by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment and observation.

A Suspicious Death in Gladstone is Being Handled by the Clackamas County Major Crimes Team

(GLADSTONE) - The Gladstone Police were dispatched to 250 W. Arlington on a female who was unconscious and not breathing. Police found that she was deceased and termed it as a "suspicious death."

The Clackamas County Major Crimes Team was activated and will now be investigating and collecting evidence at the crime scene over the next several hours.

Police have no current suspects and are interviewing the woman's two roommates who found their friend deceased when they returned home from work.
