Parris Island Announces 18 Marines Become Naturalized US Citizens

Earning the title Marine can also help non-U.S. citizens earn the rights and privileges of citizenship.

(PARRIS ISLAND, Ore.) - Today's graduation ceremony was a landmark for the 456 new Marines of Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, and Oscar Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion. Of those, 18 new Marines also took the Oath of Allegiance and became naturalized U.S. citizens.

“United States citizenship is the greatest honor we grant,” said Wendy Wilcox, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 in Willamette National Cemetery to honor the life of Air Force veteran, Casey Kathleen Finnegan, a.k.a. Anne Kathleen Finnegan.

This service will be unique with all lady veteran pallbearers at the conclusion of the graveside. Also, theater students from Clackamas High School, who are preparing to release a rendition of “A Piece of My Heart,” a true story of women who served in Vietnam, will be in attendance to pay tribute.

41 Orphans From Aleppo Will Live in Jarablus

The other six orphans will live with their relatives in Idlib.

(ISTANBUL, TR) - Following the evacuations from Aleppo, 41 orphans were settled at the
temporary refugee centre that was established by IHH in Idlib. The orphans, whose needs were covered by IHH, were sent to Azez with the guidance of Turkey, IHH and AFAD teams.

The orphans who are now staying at the temporary refugee centre will later go to Jarablus.

Grand Marshal 93-year old Golda Fabian, of Tigard, has been in the Portland Veterans Day Parade since 1988. 93-year old Hattie Kelley, of Beaverton, and 94-year old Muriel "Dolly" Ruble, of Portland, were the two other Grand Marshals leading the parade. The three women were WWII veterans of the U.S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve.
