Oregon Rallies, But USC Knocks Off Ducks in OT

Malik Hairston scored 21 to pace Oregon, which sent the game into overtime when Bryce Taylor made a layup as time expired.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Malik HairstonDaniel Hackett scored 26 points, O.J. Mayo had 25 points and Dwight Lewis a career-high 24, leading Southern California to a 95-86 overtime victory over Oregon on Saturday night.

The Trojans (13-6, 4-3 Pac-10) were nearly perfect in the overtime session, going 5-for-5 from the field - all 3-pointers - and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line as they quickly broke away from the 77-all tie.

USC Rallies to Defeat Oregon, 46-42

Oregon remains sixth in the Pac-10, with an even 10-10 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the Pac-10.

(LOS ANGELES) - Taylor LilleyFor the second straight game, Oregon was unable to hang on to its halftime lead, as USC came from behind to defeat the Ducks, 46-42, denying Oregon a win at the Galen Center on Saturday afternoon.

USC’s Kari LaPlante scored 10 second-half points, to lead the Trojans (13-7, 6-3) to victory. Sophomore guard Taylor Lilley led Oregon in scoring with 13 points.

Icy Second Half Dooms Wolves at NNU

Western Oregon will hit the road next week for just one game, a Saturday encounter at Saint Martin's.

(NAMPA, Idaho) - Northwest Nazarene opened the second half on an 18-0 run, breaking open a tight men's basketball game and then cruising to a 84-58 win over Western Oregon on Saturday afternoon in Nampa.

The victory improved the Crusaders' record to 13-3 on the season and to 6-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Western Oregon dropped to 9-8 overall and to 2-6 in the GNAC.

OSU Women’s Basketball Comes Close, But Can’t Upend UCLA

Oregon State took a six-point lead into halftime, 38-32, shooting 61.9 percent from the field, including five three-pointers.

(LOS ANGELES) - Brittney DavisBrittney Davis scored 18 points and Talisa Rhea added 17, but the Oregon State women’s basketball team could not upend UCLA, losing to the Bruins, 74-70, Saturday afternoon at Pauley Pavilion.

The game wrapped up the first half of Pacific-10 Conference play for the Beavers, who are now 10-10 overall and 3-6 in league games.

Gambee Leads Beacons to Third Straight Win

The Beacons return to the court Saturday night, when the Concordia Cavaliers visit the Morse Event Center for a 5:30 PM start.

(Eugene, Ore.) - The Northwest Christian College women’s basketball team played a controlled and systematic game on Friday night at the Morse Event Center, and earned a 59-51 victory over visiting Corban College. The win extended the Beacons’ winning streak to three games.

Junior forward McKenzie Gambee led the team in scoring with 12 first-half points and finished with a career-high 20 at night’s end.

No. 11 Beavers Rock Gill, Test Depth in Win Over No. 14 ‘Cats

For the second week in a row, freshman Jen Kesler wrapped up the uneven bars title, this time with a score of 9.825. Lanz and Rodriguez scored 9.825’s to claim the title on the vault.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - OSU Gymnastics file photoThe Oregon State gymnastics team was tested by injury and illness but the Beavers never wavered coming out on top against No. 14 Arizona. Oregon State gymnasts, boosted by a noisy crowd of 5,063, took first place in every event in the 196.275-194.050 victory.

Oregon State, which is 11th in this week’s rankings, improved its season record to 3-1, while the GymCats slipped to (1-3). Friday night, OSU hosted its third annual “Pink Out” designed to raise money and awareness for breast and cervical cancer.

George Fox 55, Whitman 47: Bruins Hold Off Missionaries for 10th Straight Win

Krumdieck topped the Missionaries with 16 points, while Michelle Krall added 11. Emily Shubin led Whitman with seven rebounds, and Jenele Peterson handed out five assists.

(WALLA WALLA, Wash.) - Katy Campbell scored 19 points, 12 in the second half, as the 14th-ranked George Fox University Bruins held off the Whitman College Missionaries 55-47 for their 10th straight win, one short of the team record, in a Northwest Conference women’s basketball game Friday night here at the Sherwood Center.

George Fox jumped out to a 6-0 lead on two baskets by Campbell and a pair of free throws by Melissa Marek-Farris, and trailed only once in the game when Kelsey Krumdieck scored inside for a 20-19 Whitman lead with four minutes left in the first half.

Cool Under Pressure, Beacons Win Again

NCC will be back in action on Saturday night when they play host to Concordia University. Tip-off, as always, is scheduled for 7:30 PM.

(ASHLAND, Ore.) - The Northwest Christian College men’s basketball has won back-to-back games for the first time since mid-November after disposing of rival Corban College on Friday night, 76-70. After losing track of an eight-point half-time lead and losing most of a nine-point lead later on, NCC remained steady with the ball to hang on for the win.

Northwest Christian (8-13, 5-6 CCC) had a 37-29 advantage at the intermission, but Corban came out scoring eight points in a minute and a half, getting seven from Clay Martin to knot the score at 37 apiece. Andrew Williams answered with a layup on the other end and the Beacons never trailed again.

No Hang-Over for EOU Women

Eastern will host Cascade College this evening at Quinn Coliseum. EOU eased past the Thunderbirds, 85-65, on December 18th 2006 in Portland.

(LA GRANDE, Ore.) - After dropping their first conference game last weekend, the
Eastern Oregon University women's basketball team responded with a 67-51 victory Friday evening over Warner Pacific (5-15, 3-8 Cascade Collegiate Conference).

The Mountaineer women looked a little sluggish in the first-half, going into halftime tied at 30. In the first period, EOU (16-2, 10-1 CCC) committed 12 turnovers, shot just under 36 percent, and missed all five of their three-point attempts.
