Beavers Miranda Nabs Preseason All-America Honor

Oregon State begins the 2008 season on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. against Winthrop in the Cathedral City Kick Off.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Cambria MirandaOregon State senior utility player, Cambria Miranda, has been named an ESPN.com Preseason Second Team All-American in a list announced on the website.

She hit a team leading 10 doubles, six triples and 11 home runs with a .328 batting average and .602 slugging percentage playing mainly in left field.

Oregon Announces 2008 Football Signing Class

As many as six of the 20 newcomers could be in place this spring when Oregon opens spring practice April 1.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Mike BellottiA pair of multi-dimensional quarterbacks, two contrasting running backs and a couple of junior college defensive linemen highlighted the University of Oregon's 2008 football recruiting class unveiled by head coach Mike Bellotti.

Oregon signed four players from the state of Texas, one from Arizona, one from Florida, one from Georgia, and one from Kansas, in addition to one commitment from Oregon and Washington.

Among the anticipated additions are three defensive backs, three linebackers, three offensive linemen, three wide receivers, two defensive linemen, two quarterbacks, two running backs, one tight end as well as one long snapper.

Bruins Stun 7th-Ranked Loggers Behind Atwater’s 27

George Fox now plays five of its final six games home, starting with Friday’s 8:00 PM clash with Willamette to kick off a weekend of Homecoming activities.

(TACOMA, Wash) - Evan Atwater scored 27 points, including two clinching free throws with 15 seconds left, as the George Fox University Bruins pulled off the upset of the year in the Northwest Conference, stunning the 7th-ranked University of Puget Sound Loggers 78-77 in a men’s basketball game Saturday night here at Memorial Fieldhouse.

Beating the Loggers at their own game early, the Bruins opened up with an 8-0 run on two fast-break layups by Bryan O’Connell, a three-pointer by Mark Metzler and a free throw by Brent Satern for an 8-0 lead four minutes into the game.

After being outrebounded 24-14 in the first half, the Eagles reversed the trend by grabbing a 26-16 edge in boards in the second half to create one last comeback effort.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Concordia University women's basketballA day after relying on Danielle Clauson for nearly 50 percent of the teams scoring, eight players scored at least six points to help Concordia University upend Northwest University 72-67 in women’s basketball action on Saturday.

With the win, Concordia moved to 13-11 on the season and 9-5 in Cascade Collegiate Conference games while Northwest dropped to 2-20 overall and 1-13 in CCC play. Northwest obtained its lone league play with a 62-58 win on November 30th to start the conference slate.

Aker Takeover Leads to Overtime Win for Cavaliers

Tied at 77, Concordia witnessed a pair of chances to end the game in regulation bounce off the rim.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Concordia's lineup for '08After surrendering a 21-point lead to take the game into overtime, Concordia University’s Cody Aker single handedly outscored Northwest University in the extra session for a 91-87 win in Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Saturday.

With the result, Concordia moved to 12-11 on the season and 8-6 in conference play while Northwest dropped to 11-12 overall and 7-7 in the CCC.

Wolves Muscle Way to 76-67 Win Over Saints

While the Wolves led the entire game, SMU did pull to within four points (62-58) with 5:13 remaining, but Western Oregon quickly answered with a 9-2 run to salt the contest away.

(LACEY, Wash.) - Western Oregon controlled the boards and led from start to finish on the scoreboard during a 76-67 men's basketball win over Saint Martin's on Saturday night at the SMC Pavillion.

The win moved WOU's record to 10-8 on the season and to 3-6 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Saint Martin's dropped to 9-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

Puget Sound 59, George Fox 43: Bruins’ Winning Streak Stopped at 12 by Loggers

Ball control and offensive rebounds were the story of the first half, the Bruins committing 14 turnovers to only two by the Loggers.

(TACOMA, Wash.) - Plagued by too many turnovers that gave the University of Puget Sound almost 45 percent more shots than them, the George Fox University Bruins saw their 12-game winning streak come to an end with a 59-43 setback to the Loggers in a battle of nationally-ranked Northwest Conference women’s basketball teams Saturday evening here at Memorial Fieldhouse.

The 12th-ranked Bruins (17-2, NWC 9-1) dropped their first conference game of the season and fell into a first-place tie with the 23rd-ranked Loggers (16-3, NWC 9-1).

No. 7 UCLA Routs Oregon State, 85-62

Seth Tarver added 16 points for Oregon State while Josh Tarver tallied eight points and six assists against the Bruins.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Seth TarverLathen Wallace came off the bench to score a career-high 18 points; however, it was not enough as No. 7 UCLA captured an 85-62 win over Oregon State in action at Gill Coliseum on Saturday night.

Kevin Love, an Oregon native who drew some criticism for leaving his home state in favor of the Bruins, scored 16 points and had a UCLA freshman record 21 rebounds. Darren Collison had a career-high 33 points.
