(CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif.) - Senior Cambria Miranda (Camarillo, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with a double, but the No. 18 Oregon State Beavers came up short against No. 6 Tennessee, 8-1, on Sunday morning in the final game of the Cathedral City Kick Off.
Tennessee scored first on a pair of hits and a wild pitch before Miranda nearly boosted Oregon State to an early lead on her long hit just falling short of the left field fence, tallying the double and the RBI, scoring McKenna Lowe, who reached on a single to tie things up at one run each.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - Saint Martin’s got a first half spark from its bench and then cruised to a 73-53 women’s basketball victory over Western Oregon on Saturday night at the Physical Education Building.
The victory improved SMU’s record to 14-5 overall and to 7-3 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. It was the fourth consecutive win for the Saints, who are ranked eighth in the latest NCAA Division II west region poll. Western Oregon dropped to 5-14 on the season and to 1-9 in the GNAC.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Laura Payne (Sr., G, Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) hit a 3-pointer with 1:52 remaining to tie the game, then swished another with 47 seconds left, sending Willamette University to a 60-57 victory over visiting Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday, Feb. 9 at Cone Field House. With the win, Willamette swept the season series 2-0 with its NWC rivals.
WU improved to 5-16 overall, including 3-9 in the NWC. The Lutes fell to 11-10 on the season, 4-8 in the NWC. Willamette also defeated PLU on Jan. 12, when the Bearcats rallied from 12 points down for a 67-64 triumph.

Central improved to 14-6 overall with the win and moved to 9-3 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Western Oregon dropped to 11-9 on the season and to 4-7 in conference play.

(CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif.) - Senior Cambria Miranda of Camarillo, California hit her second home run of the season to lift No. 18 Oregon State over UC Riverside, 4-3, in the team’s second game of day two of the Cathedral City Kick Off on Saturday afternoon.
Miranda’s solo shot out of the park came in the bottom of the sixth off a 2-1 count as she led off for Oregon State (2-2) at the plate. She needs one more home run to tie for second place on the career home runs list with 35.

(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - Linfield, under new head coach Scott Brosius, is a near unanimous choice to win the 2008 Northwest Conference baseball title, according to the NWC coaches preseason poll.
The Wildcats picked up eight out of nine first-place votes to total 88 out of 90 possible poll points.
Linfield returns three first team all-Northwest Conference selections from 2007: outfielder Kevin Mills, designated hitter Stew Davis, and starting pitcher Brian Clark.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Ninth-year head coach Terry Williams has announced an addition to the Class of 2013, as current Sheldon High School senior Katie Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) signed a Letter of Intent for the 2008-09 season.
Steigleman, who will be the third member of her family to play for Corban’s women’s basketball program joining current senior Jessica and former Warrior Rachel (2005-07), has spent the last three seasons as a member of the Sheldon High School girls’ basketball team. Read Full Article
