SALEM, Ore. - Ninth-year head coach Terry Williams has announced an addition to the Class of 2013, as current Sheldon High School senior Katie Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) signed a Letter of Intent for the 2008-09 season.

Steigleman, who will be the third member of her family to play for Corban’s women’s basketball program joining current senior Jessica and former Warrior Rachel (2005-07), has spent the last three seasons as a member of the Sheldon High School girls’ basketball team. Currently, the 5-foot-11 wing is averaging 14.1 points per game and ranks 15th in the state of Oregon among all 6A players.

"Katie has one of the best all-around games of any high school player I have watched in Oregon,” said Williams. “She is very quick, shoots well, rebounds, defends and is an excellent passer. Katie is one of the best players on the Oregon high school scene this year and we feel very fortunate to have Katie choose Corban to continue her academic and basketball careers."

Steigleman comes to Corban after earning all-conference 1st team honors as a junior in helping lead the Irish to the conference championship and a fourth place finish in the 6A state tournament. Steigleman finished the season second in scoring in the Southwest Conference averaging 13.3 points per game.

At the OSAA state tournament fourth-place game, Steigleman poured in a career and game-high 34 points in helping lead Sheldon to a dramatic triple-overtime victory over perennial powerhouse Oregon City, 93-86.

In her first season at Sheldon, Steigleman was named the Irish’s co-MVP as a sophomore after leading the team in scoring with a total of 381 points and an average of 15.2 points per game.

The 5-foot-11 wing led the Irish in field goals made (134), field goals attempted (366), three-pointers made (32) and three-pointers attempted (107), while also registering a team-best 74 steals. Steigleman finished second on the team in rebounds (159), rebounds per game (6.4), offensive rebounds (55), defensive rebounds (104), and blocked shots (18) while appearing in a team-high tying 25 games.

Prior to transferring to Sheldon, Steigleman spent her first season of prep basketball at Churchill High School in Eugene playing along side her aforementioned sister, Rachel.
