CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - Senior Cambria Miranda (Camarillo, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with a double, but the No. 18 Oregon State Beavers came up short against No. 6 Tennessee, 8-1, on Sunday morning in the final game of the Cathedral City Kick Off.

Tennessee scored first on a pair of hits and a wild pitch before Miranda nearly boosted Oregon State to an early lead on her long hit just falling short of the left field fence, tallying the double and the RBI, scoring McKenna Lowe, who reached on a single to tie things up at one run each.

The Lady Vols picked up a run off of a solo home run by Anita Monuma in the top of the second to give the team a 2-1 edge.

Oregon State earned its third hit of the game off of Miranda’s single down the right field line, putting runners on the corners before Miranda stole second with two outs. But both were left stranded as the inning ended with the Lady Vols up 6-1 after three.

Sophomore Dani Chisholm (Boring, Ore.) tallied her sixth hit of the weekend through the right side in the bottom of the fifth but was caught stealing to close the inning for the Beavers.

Tennessee scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. And in the bottom of the sixth, junior DeAnn Young (Camarillo, Calif.) earned the fifth hit for the team on a single up the middle.

Oregon State (2-3) heads to Tempe, Ariz., next weekend to compete in the Kajikawa Invitational, hosted by Arizona State University. The Beavers will face Nevada and Western Kentucky to start off the tournament on Friday.
