(WALLA WALLA, Wash.) - Evan Atwater hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to force a second overtime, then hit six free throws to keep his team in front in the second extra period as the George Fox University Bruins outlasted the Whitman College Missionaries 82-75 for their first Northwest Conference men’s basketball victory of the season Friday night here at the Sherwood Center.
Both teams entered the contest winless in conference play, George Fox at 0-6 in the NWC and riding an eight-game losing streak, and Whitman at 0-7 in the conference with seven straight losses, so something had to give.

Already a champion at Wimbledon in 2004 and the US Open in 2006, Sharapova now has three of the four majors in her trophy cabinet heading to the French Open after adding the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup to her collection with a 7-5 6-3 win over Ivanovic.

Giles, a transfer from Kansas, appeared in 10 games for the Beavers while averaging 6.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. He played his first game in an Oregon State uniform in a 77-53 win over CS Bakersfield on Dec. 11, 2007.
