DAWGS quiet STORM in Seaside‏ (PHOTOS)

Game two of the Pig Bowl series will be held on July 11th in Keizer.

(SEASIDE, Ore.) - Salem-News.com SportsThe Valley LawDawgs quieted the North Coast STORM with a 13 to 7 win in the first game of the Law Enforcement for Youth Pig Bowl series held Saturday June 27th. The Storm came out strong offensively and moved the ball methodically down the field but the offense sputtered in the red zone most of the day. The two teams battled through four quarters of tough back and force competition.

The two LawDawg touchdowns were scored by running back John Richey and Jeff Gooding the Storm quarterback rushed for the Storm's touchdown.

Pat Casey To Appear On ESPN2 During College World Series Broadcast On Thursday

Oregon State defeated North Carolina in 2006 and 2007 for its back-to-back national titles, going 4-1 against the Tar Heels.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - OSU logoOregon State baseball head coach Pat Casey will appear on ESPN2 during a College World Series broadcast featuring Arizona State and North Carolina on Thursday night.

Casey is scheduled to appear in the booth starting in the third inning of the game, which is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. PT start. Note that his appearance time on the cable network could change at a moment’s notice so make sure to stay tuned to the game.

Record-Setting Bruins Finish with No. 12 National Ranking

Reliever Chad Jones, a Third Team All-West Region and First Team All-NWC choice, ranked 15th nationally in saves (7), 26th in earned run average (2.17), and 38th in wins (8).

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - George Fox university logoAfter another record-setting season in 2009, the George Fox University Bruins finished the year with a No. 12 ranking in the final NCAA Division III D3baseball.com national poll as voted on by the website’s panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors, and media members from around the country, the second-highest ranking at the end of the season in Bruin history.

Only the 2004 team, which went 40-10 and won the D-III World Series to earn the No. 1 spot in the nation, had a higher final ranking that this year’s Bruins. Prior to that, the 2003 team was ranked 14th after compiling a 31-13 record and finishing second in the West Regional to eventual national champion Chapman University.

Blown Tire Ends Strong Run For Hornaday in Dover

Double Header Day at Dover ends early for Hornaday with blown right-front tire

(DOVER, Del.) - Ron Hornaday and the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) team qualified on the pole for the AAA Insurance 200 on Friday. Heavy rains minutes before the race was scheduled to begin postponed the race until after the Nationwide Series race concluded Saturday.

Under sunny skies, Hornaday took to the track looking for another win at the Monster Mile. Hornaday led the first twelve laps of the race before Kyle Busch caught the No. 33.

Oregon State Falls to TCU 5-4

Reyes got the start for the Beavers and threw his first complete game of the season, and the third by an Oregon State pitcher all year.

(FORT WORTH, Texas) - Oregon State had a chance late in the game but fell to Texas Christian University 5-4 Sunday night ending its season at the Fort Worth Regional.

Oregon State (37-19) had an early 4-0 lead but saw it dwindle away as the Horned Frogs fought back to tie the game with one run in the third and three runs in the fifth inning before heading into the ninth inning tied 4-4.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - Nicole Dobrzynski was named the recipient of the Karen Nelson Leadership Award.The University of Oregon Athletic Department announced its annual student-athlete awards at a banquet held on Tuesday night.

A total of 13 awards and recognitions, voted on by UO administrators and support staff, were given out in the ceremony held at the Club at Autzen in Autzen Stadium.

Willamette Rowers are Fifth in Petite Final Bearcats Finish 11th overall at NCAA Championships

The Bearcats fell behind at the start of the Petite Final, as WU trailed the top boats by approximately four seconds after 500 meters. Willamette lost additional ground on its way to the 1,000-meter mark, but gained momentum over the final 1000 meters.

(CAMDEN, N.J.) - Salem-News.com SportsThe Willamette University women's varsity eight+ took fifth place in the Division III Petite Final at the NCAA Championship Regatta on Saturday, May 30 at Cooper River Park. As a result, the Bearcats finished 11th overall in their first appearance at the NCAA Championships.

Willamette's varsity eight+ included stroke Geneva Hooten, 7-seat Kelsey White, 6-seat Hilary Andrus, 5-seat Christina Thorburn, 4-seat Sarah Schroeder, 3-seat Morgan Iveson, 2-seat Karina Hoogstede and bow Larissa Stiglich. Erica Soma was the coxswain.

Oregon State Baseball Drops Second Game In Texas To TCU

Oregon State continues play at the Fort Worth Regional Sunday at 12:00 p.m. PT.

(FORT WORTH, Texas ) - OSU Beavers logoThe Oregon State baseball team dropped its second game at the Fort Worth Regional, losing to No. 1 seed and host TCU, 13-1, Saturday night at Lupton Stadium.

The Beavers drew six walks against TCU starter Kyle Winkler, but produced just two hits off the freshman over eight innings. Winkler improved to 7-0 on the year.
