Salem-News.com Sports (August 20, 2009 01:48)Men’s Soccer Begins New Era at Oregon State Salem-News.com SPORTSThe Beavers kick off their 2009 campaign when they play host to the Aztecs of San Diego State Friday Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m. (CORVALLIS, Ore.) - The Oregon State men’s soccer team opens up its fall camp Wednesday as the Steve Simmons era officially begins. The day started out with two hours of practice in the morning and another two hours in the afternoon which was immediately followed by time spent in the weight room.
“The players are in good spirits and eager to compete,” men’s soccer head coach Steve Simmons said. “I’m pleased with the overall fitness of the team. However, there are many things we need to do on the soccer side to get on the same page. That will come in time.”

He is third all-time in school history with 28 career goals. (CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Former Oregon State men’s soccer standout Robbie Findley scored his eighth goal of the season Sunday in a 1-0 win for Real Salt Lake over the Seattle Sounders, giving him 22 for his career and his 20 with the RLS squad.
The 20 goals in a RLS uniform make him the all-time leading scorer in franchise history. He surpasses Jeff Cunningham who held the previous record of 19.

(ACICE, Czech Republic) - Devery Karz, a junior on the Oregon State women's rowing squad, earned a silver medal as part of the United States lightweight women’s quadruple sculls team at the U23 Rowing World Championships on Sunday.
Karz (Park City, Utah) teamed with Victoria Burke (Redding, Conn.), Katherine Robinson (Everett, Wash.) and Summers Nelson (Kansas City, Mo.) to hold off Australia in the finals heat to capture the silver medal.

The Dawgs jumped out to an early lead on a Touchdown pass from QB Ethan Griffith to Receiver Steve Polanski.
The Metro Knights rallied with two running touchdowns by QB Bryce Segar and RB Abe Madrigal. The teams went into half time with a 12-7 score.

All proceeds for this tournament will go to benefit and finance various Santiam Canyon youth projects. The goals of this tournament are to 1) Generate funds needed to help with activities and events involving youth living in the Santiam Canyon, 2) Demonstrate to youth that we believe in them, 3) Solicit the support of sponsors to make this tournament a continued success.

(MONMOUTH, Ore.) - The Western Oregon University baseball coaching staff will have a new look in the 2010 season as Kellen Walker has been promoted to the role of recruiting coordinator and Matt Skundrick has been hired as the pitching coach, announced WOU head coach Jeremiah Robbins Wednesday, July 1st.
Walker has been with the Western Oregon baseball program for the past three seasons working mainly as the infielders coach and hitting instructor but will now assume the role of recruiting coordinator in addition to his other duties.
