(SEATTLE) - Nick ReedNo. 7 Oregon (5-1, 2-1 Pac-10) faces a tough test this weekend when the Ducks head north to take on Pac-10 rival Washington (2-4, 0-3 Pac-10) at Husky Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. and will be televised live on FSN.

Washington SO QB Jake Locker and Oregon SR QB Dennis Dixon lead their respective teams in rushing touchdowns with six apiece.

(MONMOUTH, Ore. ) - wou sports logoFor the 71st time in football history, Western Oregon and Southern Oregon will meet in a regional rivalry game Saturday at McArthur Field. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

Both squads will be looking to bounce back after dropping games last Saturday to ranked teams. The Wolves fell to No. 17 nationally ranked (NCAA Division II) Central Washington (49-14), while the Raiders fell at home to No. 19 (Division III) Linfield (30-22).

Oregon WR Derrick Jones Suspended Indefinitely

The absence of Jones will mean that freshman Aaron Pflugrad should earn his first collegiate start Saturday.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Derrick JonesUniversity of Oregon sophomore wide receiver Derrick Jones has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, according to the Ducks’ head coach Mike Bellotti.

Jones, who has caught 11 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns through Oregon’s first six games this season, was expected to play an expanded role in the team’s offense following last week’s loss of wide receiver Cameron Colvin to an ankle injury.

Oregon State Swimmers Lead at TYR Invitational

Brittney Iverson gave Oregon State 20 points with a victory in the 1650 yard free.

(ROSEVILLE, Calif.) - Brittney IversonBehind victories in the 400 yard free relay and the 1650 yard free, the Oregon State swim team holds the lead at the University of Pacific’s TYR Invitational after one day.

The Beavers accumulated 349.50 points on Friday, which leads second-place Nevada, which finished the first day with 323.50 points. Third-place Pacific, which is hosting the meet, has 302 points, followed by No. 4 UC-Davis at 249 points.

With the loss, Western Oregon dropped to 3-7 in the GNAC and to 3-11-2 overall.

Dean’s shot four minutes into overtime ended a spirited and physical match and allowed Seattle to stay in the hunt for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference title.

Stanford F Lopez Ruled Academically Ineligible

Stanford begins the year on Nov. 5 with an exhibition game against Concordia University.

(STANFORD, Calif. ) - Brook LopezStanford sophomore forward Brook Lopez has been ruled academically ineligible for the fall quarter, as announced today by head coach Trent Johnson.

He can become eligible for the entire Pac-10 campaign and any postseason competition if he meets NCAA requirements. A 7-0 sophomore from Fresno, Calif., Lopez averaged 25.2 minutes, 12.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game last season.

Royals Hire Trey Hillman as Manager

Hillman was named the 2006 Japan "Sportsman of the Year" by the 2006 Foreign Sportswriters of Japan.

(KANSAS CITY) - Trey HillmanThe Kansas City Royals today announced they have reached an agreement on a multi-year contract with Trey Hillman as manager. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Hillman, 44, is currently managing the Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan's Pacific League. Hillman is a very popular figure in Japan, after leading the Ham Fighters from a stretch of dismal campaigns to a composite 351-324 mark (.520 winning percentage) over five seasons.

Mavericks Howard Suspended Two Games

Howard will begin serving his suspension when the Mavericks open the 2007-08 regular season against Cleveland on Oct. 31.

(NEW YORK) - Josh HowardJosh Howard of the Dallas Mavericks has been suspended two games without pay for his involvement in an altercation with Sacramento Kings center Brad Miller, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President Basketball Operations.

Howard escalated a situation involving Miller and Mavericks' guard Devin Harris by running across the court, striking Miller in the back of the head with his forearm, pushing Miller in the back, and engaging with other Kings' players.
