(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The ninth annual Portland Hempstalk is a compelling mix of upbeat music with a focus on ending Oregon's marijuana prohibition. Hemp is the answer to many of Oregon's practical needs. Hempstalk is Saturday and Sunday, September 7th and 8th at Kelley Point Park, located at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers.

Co-sponsored by The Hemp and Cannabis Foundation, Campaign for the Restoration and Regulation of Hemp, Green Leaf Labs and Paul Loney Law office, the event is free to attendees of all ages. With more than 30,000 people expected to attend, it will wrap up the summer festival season with a bang.

The major highlight of Hempstalk will be the beginning of signature gathering for two initiative campaigns. A new group, Help End Marijuana Prohibition in Oregon or HEMP in OR's Oregon Cannabis Amendment, and the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act 2014, which will regulate cannabis by allowing sales in dedicated stores to adults over the age of 21 and generate millions of dollars in revenue for Oregon's General Fund.

The Oregon Cannabis Tax Act would also allow for the cultivation of industrial hemp for fuel, fiber and food to meet the needs of a fast-expanding worldwide market. Anything that is made of plastics can now be made of hemp, and hemp-derived plastics and fuel are cheaper and cleaner.

Most importantly these two initiatives will end the wasteful destruction of thousands of Oregonian lives, especially of our young people. Prohibition does not work, and, in fact, it has never worked. Cannabis/ hemp/ marijuana will prove to be the world's most useful plant.

Cannabis can provide Oregon's farmers with an easy-to-grow cash crop in great demand for clothing, food products, and alternative fuels. For more information on our 2 Oregon initiatives, please call us at 1-877-630-9333, or go to www.hemp.org

This year's Hempstalk will also feature over one hundred vendor booths offering delicious food and irresistible merchandise, and a Hemposium, which will feature informational panels on a variety of cannabis and hemp-related topics.

Headlining musical acts include Santee Sioux activist and spoken word artist John Trudell and his band Bad Dog, iconic Las Vegas rappers Los Marijuanos, and Arden Park Roots, Hempstalk Talent Search winners.

Attendees are encouraged to Carpool or Max to the Expo Center and Delta Park/Vanport Park and Ride. A $2 shuttle service will operate from the Max station at Expo Center and Delta Park/Vanport Max Station to the festival site every 30 minutes. Kelley Point Park is also easy to reach by bicycle.
