Virtual Reality Vs. Cannabis Therapy Continued

Phillip Leveque has spent his life as a Combat Infantryman, Physician Pharmacologist and Toxicologist.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Dozens of my readers have emailed in comments, questions and approval of my postings. It is very much appreciated. As a pharmacology research scientist, I learned long ago to be certain of what I was writing about. I must believe in my own writing or I wouldn’t do it.

I was greatly troubled by reading about Virtual Reality Therapy (VRT) for PTSD Veterans and after reading about the purported success, I could not imagine a PTSD victim voluntarily submitting himself/herself to the same conditions which caused them to have PTSD in the first place.

As many of you know, I have been challenged to a debate/duel about Virtual Reality Therapy vs Cannabis therapy in January 2009. I personally had over 400 PTSD victims/patients with successful therapy with cannabis. I was denigrated with the comment that I was turning my patients into “pot heads” or worse and aiding and abetting dangerous cannabis addiction. YAHOO!

The latest information I have read about U.S. Govt. statistics is that 83 million Americans have used cannabis. That’s a lot of “Pot heads”. Because cannabis can be used successfully for a wide variety of medical maladies of varying severity, I’m really not surprised that so many use it. For starters, it is the cheapest, safest tranquilizer/sedative that anyone can use by eating, smoking, suppositories or inhaling vaporous fumes.

IT SHOULD BE TOTALLY LEGALIZED

I checked my computer for VRT PTSD therapy and found 43 pages. I was so surprised I checked for PTSD Cannabis therapy and found 86 pages. I thought I was being the “Pointman” on this exercise. To find about 860 articles was certainly exhilarating even if many of them were my own.

I am in email correspondence with PTSD Veteran victims as well as other PTSD victims all over the U.S. Most complain that the VA doctors are giving them totally stupefying doses of morphine-like drugs and/or antidepressants which turn them into zombie-like vegetables. At the same time many tell me they have used cannabis (illegally) with great benefit. Some have been given Marinol – 10mg. Which usually causes panic attacks similar to their PTSD symptoms. There is something wrong with this picture.

Michigan is the 13th state to legalize medical cannabis. Thousands of Veterans and others will very soon be getting permits for use and it’s about time.

Hoorah for my fellow PTSD Veterans!

Doc, IT IS NEVER WHAT OTHERS THINK OR SAY ABOUT YOU. IT IS ONLY WHAT YOU DO THAT COUNTS. AND YOU HAVE DONE FOR VETERANS WHAT OTHERS COULD ONLY IMAGINE TO DO. THAT INCLUDES THE SAME SYSTEM THAT ATTEMPTED TO GIVE KETSUP AS A VEGGIE FOR OUR SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAMS YEARS AGO.
