In the state of Oregon, these are the acceptable conditions in order to attain a medical marijuana permit:

  • Severe pain
  • Spasms
  • Nausea
  • HIV & Chemo
  • Cancer & Chemo
  • Alzheimers
  • Glaucoma
  • Seizures

How do you get a permit? This must be the most frequently asked question. Applications are available online. You MUST fill out an application completely, with a doctor's signature and pay a fee in order to get your permit. If you don't have a doctor but do have a documented accepted medical condition, there are several clinics in Oregon with doctors on staff that will see you.

The Oregon Medical Marijuana Program is a State registry program within the Public Health Division, Oregon Department of Human Services. It is their role to administer the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act as approved by the voters of the State in November 1998.

Multiple states have requested information on Oregon's program to use as a model for their own medical marijuana initiatives and registration systems. This is a successful program for the citizens of Oregon.

To download an application, and for more information on the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program, contact the State of Oregon: www.oregon.gov/DHS/ph/ommp/
