Marijuana Finally Recognized by The Oregonian, Part 2

More than five U.S. Presidents were known marijuana users.

(MOLALLA, OR) - I would guess that the Oregonian will not write a story about the 101 comments they received on this subject but it is necessary to do so. I read all of the comments, in here is the first part of my critique. Thirty-three comments were quite positive for Marijuana. Twenty were against, some most vehemently (more later). About 17 were half fast and it was hard to tell their leanings. Some were so far out in left field I suspect they were on absinthe. I must say that some were extremely erudite in their defense of Medical Marijuana but some were so vehement one would wonder how they picked up such negativity.

To clarify this, at one time about 1900, three of the top prescription drugs in the U.S. were based on Cannabis for 100 different medical conditions and there was no epidemic of any kind of harm. The same goes for today. Several people just do not understand that for most Medical Marijuana users they have tried dozens of standard pharmaceuticals which in many cases make their medical conditions worse and Marijuana is the ONLY medicine which gives relief. Chronic Severe Pain is an example of this, 70% of permit holders require Marijuana for pain relief. It is better than Morphine, etc.

Some writers bark about the dangers of Marijuana. About 200,000 patients die each year from standard medications. Marijuana has never killed anyone!

All levels of society use Marijuana. I, myself, have had Lawyers, Doctors, Nurses, Teachers, Retired Senior Military Officers, Priests, even Cops.

The Oregonian did have one serious error, there are about 57,000 Medical Card holders not 72,000 and about 29,000 Caregiver/growers of two kinds. The clinic where she got most of her information has 150,000 patients from 9 states.

Several of the persons posting comments question the number of “Medical Card holders”. The U.S. Government estimates 300,000 people in Oregon use Marijuana occasionally. They also estimate that 10% of the other states populations do also just like Oregon. This has been going on since 1999 – not a recent increase. They also seem to think most Medical users use it to get HIGH, not so, getting high is a waste of very expensive medicine. Remember most of these sick people are near destitution from paying so much money to doctors for medicine that doesn’t work.

There are also many who believe psychological or psychiatric counseling therapy works. For the 150,000 patients I know of that is why they have switched to Marijuana. IT WORKS! Exercise and physical therapy doesn’t work either.

Some consider Medical Marijuana users to be “free loaders, slackers, malcontents, potheads, dead weights, welfare cheats” or any other pejorative term they can think of. To clarify this I will give the names of some well-known POT users: Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, Zachary Taylor, Franklin Pierce (those were Presidents); Bing Crosby, Margot Fonteyn (famous Ballerina); Dr. Francis Crick (discovered RNA/DNA); search Marijuana Users on your computer.

One poster said Ice Cream is more dangerous than Marijuana. Well, high caloric fats and carbohydrates, French Fries, Pizza and any fatty foods are far more lethal in the long run. Another poster wrote that Marijuana users are hurting themselves. It has been used medically for about 5000 years, poor medicine might produce bronchitis or coughing.

Thank you so much for all you done to help people, Dr Leveque. I'm so glad you wrote some of your adventures down in your "Dogface Solder" book. I don't like war, but I like the good Doctor, so I'm going to have to pick up a copy when I can and see what he got himself into. Thanks again Doc, you're a real trooper :)

ever wonder why the feds are so against marijuana (they are here to help us), while supporting GMO's that are destroying not only our health, but the environment also? The feds dont mess with oxycotin even tho its proven to kill tens of thousands? I could add dozens more examples, but you get the point..The reason drugs are illegal is one reason, and one reason only. The feds are owned by the bankers, and the bankers make billions in drug money laundering...Anyone with half a brain knows this.
