Dr. Oz Reefer Madness and Medical Marijuana

The ugliest drug war against desperate patients.

The set of the program where Dr. Oz addresses pot.
The set of the program where Dr. Oz addresses pot.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) -

NOTE: Dr. Oz was recently on the Montel Williams Show, but did not mention a word about medical marijuana, disappointingly. Below are links to
Dr. Phil Leveque's recent stories
regarding Dr. Oz:

Last week Dr. Oz presented an educational program about Medical Marijuana which could have been very good but it was very disappointing chiefly because of Dr. Oz’s relative ignorance of the medical benefits of MMJ. His knowledge was far too narrow and shallow. If he or his secretary had spent 5 minutes on the computer he would have learned much more and presented a far more educational program.

First out of the TV box was Dr. Andrea Barthwell, who has worked for State and Federal agencies, about the horrible dangers of MJ and she continues after about 15 years now to bleat about the severe dangers without ANY information even about the benefits and the fact that the U.S. Government grows and dispenses it and even recently published that it was good for treating cancer. Her main statements were that “WE cannot support smoking as medicine”.

Well, I guess she hasn’t heard of inhalations for asthma et cetera and even Insulin inhalations for Diabetes. She also seems to think legalization increased MJ use by high school and college students. They represent the largest user group even before legality. The U.S. Government estimates that about 20,000,000 people use it daily, legal or not.

There were several people who spoke about MJ dangers and addiction. Alcohol, tobacco, and starbucks coffee are all more addicting and/or dangerous. Dr. Oz and Montell Williams both pointed out that Morphine-like drugs, Valium-like drugs and even Ritalin-like drugs were far more dangerous and addicting. Dr. Barthwell glossed over these hazards.

Dr. Oz gave a very limited list of the medical conditions which MMJ helps; AIDS, Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Glaucoma, Migraines, et cetera. Actually there are about 50 medical conditions which benefit from MMJ treatment and in fact MMJ works better without adverse side effects than the standard drugs.

Granny Storm Crow's list is
a "must read" MMJ resource!

Granny Storm Crow gives a list with the medical references for each of the 50 or so. Many medical societies recommend MMJ for many of these diseases.

Government employees of the various anti-marijuana government agencies continue to stay on the payroll and bleat about the dangers of MMJ. Actually the Government approved synthetic Marijuana, Marinol, which causes severe anxiety and panic attacks and may have caused some deaths. Natural Marijuana has NEVER seriously harmed or caused death in more than 4000 years of medical use.

Dr. Barthwell complains about patients buying MJ on the street. Why doesn’t she recommend dispensaries or that it be in pharmacies?

Dr. Oz makes a grave mistake when he gives a list of medical conditions in which he says that the effectiveness is not proved. He names PMS, Headache, Anxiety, Insomnia, Stress, and Irritability. I have over 5000 patients. The main uses are for Pain Spasms and Nausea and Vomiting (usually caused by other drugs).

Combat Veterans tell me MJ is better for Combat Anxiety (fear and stress), PTSD, nightmares, insomnia and any kind of pain.

California is stated to be out of control as far as MMJ is concerned. The California Medical Board has tried everything legal and illegal to stop or control MMJ use. The citizens and physicians pay no attention to them. It has the most successful program for the patients!

EVERY STATE HAS HIGH USE OF MARIJUANA – LEGAL OR NOT – WITH LITTLE DANGER!!!
