Tests Confirm No Safety Concerns in Effluent Discharged to Willamette River

Signage to warn public has been removed.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Willamette River UPDATE - City of Salem: Additional testing at the Willow Lake Water Pollution Control Facility has confirmed that there are no additional safety concerns in the effluent that is discharged to the Willamette.

August 4th, the public was alerted by the City of Salem that there was a "high" report of E. Coli Bacteria in tests.

High Level of E. Coli Bacteria in Discharge to Willamette River Near Keizer

Avoid the Willamette River between Spongs Landing Park and Willamette Mission Park until further notice.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Spongs Landing Park The City of Salem has detected higher than normal E. Coli bacteria results while monitoring treated effluent from the Willow Lake Water Pollution Facility.

The Willow Lake facility is located in Keizer, Oregon. The City of Salem treats wastewater and discharges treated effluent to the Willamette River at this location.

Water Stations To Open in Salem and Turner

There are several sites to fill up your containers with good water.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem water sites Free drinking water will be available at multiple locations throughout Marion and Polk counties tonight. The water distribution operation is a cooperative effort between Marion County, City of Salem, and the Oregon Military Department.

Once they begin, the sites will operate around the clock until further notice. All bulk water distribution locations are pull-through. Residents must bring their own containers. There is a 5 gallon limit per vehicle.

SALEM: Water Advisory for Vulnerable Populations remains in Effect Until Further Notice

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Based on test results received today, the City of Salem will be maintaining the Vulnerable Population Water Advisory until further notice.

Tap water is safe for consumption for healthy children over the age of six and healthy adults. Further information regarding water distribution and assistance will be released shortly in a separate update.

Salem Issues Limited Area Boil Water Notice

Water pressure was interrupted to approximately 65 homes.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem boil water If you live between Harlandale Estates/Bramble Hills on Barnes Avenue SE Between Stroh Lane SE and Commercial Street SE, this affects you.

At approximately 10:20 p.m., May 25, 2016, a vehicle struck a fire hydrant on Barnes Avenue SE. To mitigate damage caused by water flowing from the broken fire hydrant, maintenance crews had to shut down the water main.

Salem`s Splash Fountains Close for the 2014 Season

Splash fountains are a favorite destination throughout the summer.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem fountain Today is the last day to run through a fountain in Salem, Oregon.... until next summer, that is.

At 8 p.m., Thursday, September 25, all park splash fountains will cease to operate for the season. These include Wes Bennett Park, Englewood Park, Northgate Park, West Salem Park, Fairmount Park, River Road Park, and Riverfront Park splash fountains.
