Oregon`s Average Gasoline Prices are Climbing

The weakening U.S. dollar is a major factor in the price hike experts say.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas station attendant "Gas prices continue to climb." AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds says, "The national average increased five-and-a-half- cents in the past week to $2.88, And Oregon's statewide average jumps seven cents to $3.07 per gallon this week.

The increase in gas prices comes after crude oil hit a record $93 per barrel Monday."

11-Year Old Boy Accidentally Shot in Vancouver

Deputies with the Clark County Sheriff's Office respond to a report of an accidental shooting involving a child.

(VANCOUVER, Wa.) - Shooting investigation Sheriff's deputies in La Center, Washington say an 11-year old boy will survive an accidental shooting that took place when a 15-year old relative pulled the trigger of a .38 caliber pistol that they all believed was inoperable. It happened Monday night just after 8:00 PM.

Police say preliminary investigation indicates that three boys, ages 15, 11, and 11 were playing in a back bedroom at a house on NE Cerveny Drive, southeast of La Center when the shooting happened.

Police Dog Killed in the Line of Duty

Police say the dog was killed while searching for an armed suspect.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Clark County Sheriff's Office patrol car A report of a possible mental subject in the area of 16415 NE 137th Avenue drew the response of Clark County deputies this afternoon just before 2:00 PM.

According to the caller, a subject by the name of Ronald Chenette was going to be walking down the railroad tracks from 137th Avenue to the Brush Prairie Market on Caples Road. Police say the caller continued to say Ronald was armed with a .357 magnum handgun and had made statement that he wanted to "kill a cop." Before long, a police dog lay dead of a gunshot wound to the head.

No Sign Yet of Plane Missing in Washington

"We have two single engine aircraft flying grid searches, and two helicopters. In addition we have a number of ground crews searching as well." - Nisha Marvel, Washington Transportation Dept.

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - Cessna 207 Caravan A small airplane has reportedly crashed on a flight between Idaho to Shelton, Washington. 10 people were aboard the Cessna 208 Caravan that left the ground in Boise at 7:00 PM.

Authorities became alarmed when the plane failed to return to Shelton as a flight plan indicated. Nisha Marvel, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation, told Salem-News.com that a number of resources have been deployed to help located the missing aircraft.

Real or not real? Ghosts are something some people believe exist, others scoff at the notion. But have they ever had to live in a haunted house?

(SALEM, Ore.) - Bush impeachment protestors "Ghosthunting" has an undeniable appeal as a word, but it probably isn't the best description for those who investigate the undead in earnest.

If in fact ghosts do exist, then they are the remnant of a living, breathing person, who possessed thoughts and feelings and need and demands. Alive or dead, they deserve our respect, and that often is the best tool and basis of understanding for a person who investigates haunted locations.

Coast Guard Cleans Derelict Vessel in Washington

The Coast Guard says the Heron was first discovered to be holed and discharging oil in 2005.

(SEATTLE, Wa.) - Derelict fishing vessel in Everette, Washington The Coast Guard has began the monitored cleanup and removal of the 141-foot derelict fishing vessel Heron from Everett, Washington today. The former fishing craft has been a major source of pollution in the area, and is an example of how poorly maintained vessels can impact marine populations and the local shoreline.

The Coast Guard says the Heron was first discovered to be holed and discharging oil in 2005.

Oregon Gasoline Prices Move Downward

Average prices are leveling. The national average is down by a couple cents, Oregon's savings are much less.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon gas pumps Gasoline prices nationwide have settled down in the past week, dropping the average price for a gallon of regular by two cents to $2.79. Oregon's average price fell by only a half cent to $2.87.

Salem’s average price of $2.835 is the cheapest in Oregon. Portland’s average for a gallon of regular is currently $2.843. Eugene/Springfield drivers are paying $2.860 for regular, while Medford/Ashland’s current cost is $2.947. Vancouver, Washington residents are paying $2.922 for a gallon of self-serve regular gas.

Washington Family Sought by Authorities Located in Canada

The family was taken into custody by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

(PLENTYWOOD, Mont.) - The Spady family The Clark County Sheriff's Office was notified by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police early this morning that they had located Jeffrey and Kim Spady, a Washington couple on the run from authorities for numerous counts of Rape of a Child 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree.

Canadian police say they had located the Spady family around 1:30 AM, but had not contacted them. They told Washington authorities that the family was camping at the Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park near the town of Swift Current.

Vancouver Cheerleading Coach Arrested for Sexual Misconduct

Neil Finger made his first court appearance today.

(VANCOUVER, Wash. ) - handcuffed man A Vancouver, Washington cheerleading coach has been arrested on two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor in the first degree, after a mother of a 17-year-old girl read about it in her diary.


Vancouver police arrested 28-year-old Neil Finger Tuesday night. He is the owner and director of the Vancouver Cheer Academy.
